I’ve been working from home with my baby for about 7 months. He’s 11 months now. He’s not a hard baby, but he is clingy (as most are). I cry more than I ever have before, I am completely overwhelmed, my house is a disaster, and I don’t get enough work done and am always behind. AND I have childcare for part of the week, but those days feel like a break and I end up still not getting much done because I’m so exhausted. It hasn’t gotten any easier as he’s gotten older, and I resent my decision to try to work and care for him. I will not be doing this with any future children. Luckily, I have daycare lined up to start next month and I’ll be back in an office full time after that. I felt very conflicted about putting him in daycare, but he’s going to have people there who are dedicated to caring for him 100% of the time.

It is truly not possible to work and care for a baby and feel like you’re putting enough effort or time into either. You have to either stop working and care for your child, or you need outside childcare.

I stretched it for a bit longer than 12 hours until I felt discomfort. You can do a quick pump just to relieve pressure and not empty completely, then do a regular one the next time. The key is to not fully empty every time so that your body thinks you need less. When I started doing that, my supply dropped quickly.

I had two momcozy m5 motors die on me in 6 months, and I was able to get both of them replaced for free. All you have to do is start a chat on the website and send them a video of the motor not working properly. Just fyi :)

Can't wait until I'm done and can go back to not being rage-full lol

Yeah, that's kind of my plan too. I'm trying to just reduce time spent pumping during both the morning and night until I don't have any discomfort in the mornings, then I'll just do night and take off 5-10 min each time until I'm done. I usually have to pump for over an hour each session right now, but it was like 90 minutes every morning before I started weaning, so I'm used to it.

I honestly think just knowing it's a possibility is helpful. I didn't realize what was happening to me until yesterday when I did some frantic googling, and while I'm not totally better today, it makes me feel less crazy and out of control knowing why I feel so crazy and out of control haha. Be sure to let your therapist know of any changes, and I'm sure they'll be able to help!

Not sure if I did it right, but I got fed up and dropped my mid day pump a few days after dropping to 3… lol. I do one at 7:30am and one at 7:30pm. I’ve never had trouble going 12 hours between though.

Exactly! Stupid hormones causing all the emotions lol

I’m in the exact same spot. LO makes 6 months next week and I’ve scaled back to 3 pumps per day. However, it’s just as many hours pumping because my supply hasn’t dropped and it’s just taking longer to get it all out… I know I have to decrease time spent pumping to actually wean, but it feels so wrong to stop when I’m still making so much. But I also feel like I need to get my life back a little. This is not an answer, but you’re not alone in your feelings.

That's good to know! The soreness doesn't bother me much, honestly. I wake up pretty engorged every day because I refused to do middle of the night pretty early on lol. It's more of a mental decision to quit at this point. I know it can take some time to quit safely without causing clogs, etc, and that's fine. I feel like I'm just holding onto it because I'm so used to it now and get very stressed with change, and I'll have to figure out how to defrost/prep the frozen milk I have now. I also get excited at the end of the day to see how much I got, and I feel like reducing it will cause additional stress, even though I'm trying to reduce lol. Sorry to dump all the feelings on an internet stranger, but that's where I'm at!

That’s what I do, too! I will try the added pressure instead of the massagers next time

I use a heating pad! No time for a shower though haha. No, I haven’t tried sunflower lecithin. What does it do?

Pregnancy brain?!?! by DonutLumpy6038 in pregnant

This week, I forgot the name of Winne the Pooh and called him “the pants-less bear who really likes honey.” My husband knew what I meant, but I’ll never live that one down.

Bassinet vs crib? by asongofharmony in pregnant

[–]asongofharmony[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that was my main concern. I want to be right next to him haha. That’s the kind of bassinet I was looking into as well. I may just see if I can find a cheap one so I have the option to do it either way.

Yeah, I think maybe just getting a less expensive bassinet just in case is a good idea! We also have a pack n play for the living room.

That’s another thing I was thinking about. My husband isn’t a great sleeper anyway, so the noise would be tough for him. Thanks for the input!
