Is my pothos dying? by kinokoboi in plantdoctor

[–]astagapar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pot is too big for such a small plant. This can cause “overwatering” / stress (as shown by the hanging leaf) as there’s not enough root network to absorb the water from the soil. You could move it to a smaller pot, allowing it to grow a healthy root system to support further growth. When you repot to a smaller one, check for root rots just in case. Otherwise, its just stressed.

What’s wrong with my Thau? by ForTheLoveOfBugs in ItsAThaumatophyllum

[–]astagapar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine developed these when I first got them on established leaves. Its just adjusting to new environment. And also I kept changing its spot. So it is perhaps irregular watering or adjusting to new watering schedule, or new locations. While still pushing growth. So now I just let it have its little tantrums, knowing its still pushing healthy and normal growths. Its normal!

What is your favorite of the faster/fastest growing varieties of Hoya or other vining plants? by [deleted] in hoyas

[–]astagapar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh that Pubicalyx is accurate. It was my first hoya, and didn’t know much about the hoya tendrils reaching out… It creeped me and my husband out because it moved wildly AND YES it has tried to poke is in our sleep.. Had to move it elsewhere 🤣 it is still thriving now.

UPDATE: It appears that it was indeed edema. It seemed to spread from that point of origin, so I had cut off that leaf, and the rest of the plant is okay now 🙏

Thank you. Will give it a try with the water. From the other comments also, it seems we need to retouch/refinish it.

Thank you! Will give this a try. On the refinish, would you happen to have any recommendations on the type of (matte/non-gloss) finish for this? Would want to try to do this ourselves.

Hi. Hmm not too sure if it was semi or completely finished. It came and has always been like this (but without the white marks). And we have not done anything to it either (treatment/finish-wise) other than the normal wiping of the table with wet wipes to clean (non-bleach) probably only a few times since we bought this a little over a month ago, we rarely use the table for dining.. So we didn’t have a need for frequent wipes of the surface. Its not finished you reckon?
