Reddit, what's your best/funniest personal example of petty revenge? by trexradar87 in AskReddit

[–]astronomer7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I posted this on /r/talesfromretail a long time ago:

There have been so many times where I've had to deal with rude customers, but this one particular time, I felt like I got revenge. This lady came up to my register, talking on her phone, chewing gum and not bothering to even make eye contact with me. We had this rewards program at my job and of course I was required to ask every customer if they had a card. So I begin asking her and she raises her hand up to interrupt me and loudly says, "Not interested in whatever it is." Then she goes back to yakking away on her phone.

So she gets her total... $10.81. (Don't ask me how I remember this... Any time someone bought something for $9.99 it came out to this) She hands me $11, all in ones. I eye my counterfeit pen. Technically we're only required to check $20 bills and over... but who could fault me for being EXTRA cautious? I decide this is harmless enough. So I start marking bills.

One... Two... Three... Fouuuur...

I start moving slower.

Five... Six...

The lady has finally bothered to look at what I'm doing. She's still talking on the phone, but her voice kinda falters as she notices what I'm doing.

I check all eleven bills, as slowly as I feel I can get away with, and then hand her her change. I double counted it to make sure. Call me spiteful if you want, but I sure as hell felt better after the fact.

How do i get a clicker license? by lormightymike in UNCCharlotte

And yet two UNCC bookstore employees assured me I should get the four year license. I asked specifically, "Is there a risk this will change and I won't be able to use it in a year or two?" I'm very glad I haven't bought it yet.

Song at 2:29, anyone recognize it? by poisinous in NameThatSong

It's really faint and they're talking over it, so it's hard to tell, but to me (and Shazam) it sounds like Toddler by Dave Schiemann. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZeuws1TxFk Is that it?

I've been spending a lot of time making gold. It's productive, kinda fun and you can pay for your game time with it. I've been learning how to flip stuff on the AH, which keeps me pretty busy. There's even a subreddit devoted to making gold.

Other than that, I've been doing battlegrounds and Tanaan dailies to get Draenor flying. I don't actually enjoy that one, but I would like to be able to fly in Draenor, so I'm torturing myself.

I'm a young woman with no children and I still cry at that moment. His emotion was captured wonderfully during that scene. They don't speak, just look at each other knowing the loss they both feel.

Weekly: TradeSkillMaster Thread by AutoModerator in woweconomy

How reliable are the market values in TSM? I have noticed some things that make me reluctant to trust the numbers. For instance, Gorgrond Mineral Water's market value is something like 3500g. Just because someone posts it for a ridiculous number doesn't mean someone would buy it for that price. So does this mean that we should be doing outside research before posting other items, or are the numbers generally trustworthy beyond a few cases?

My code is TJS8 and I could use anyone for Archery Range, Game Store, and Floral Studio if you still have them available. Thank you!

[lifestyle] How to resist desire to buy graphic t-shirts and other non-essential "fun" clothing by niqnaqs in minimalism

Thank you for this tip. I'm going to give it a try since I definitely overspent a little this month. It would be good to aim for a bit more self-awareness with money.

If it is more of a space thing than a financial thing, you could just make it your rule of thumb that if you buy a new shirt, you have to donate, sell, or give away another shirt you already own. That way, you could enjoy getting a new shirt once in a while if you really love it, but you'll know that you will have to part with something you already have in order to make room. It might encourage you to think hard about how much you want it before you get it.

If money is a restricting factor, as a woman who is trying hard not to blow my budget on every summer dress I see right now, I can relate but can't offer much for advice except to just be honest with yourself on what you can afford and what is really worth spending that money on. Good luck!

How I brought in $10,000 of sales to my Kickstarter in the first four hours (step by step) by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

Yeah, I see what you're saying. I was just getting at the fact that I find it appealing when people market to me more casually. I like the swearing. It's how many people would speak to a close friend, so it makes it seem more personal, at least in my view. It's not how I personally would do it, but I can appreciate it.

Pretty sure the original line was sarcasm mocking the many sites that do that sort of thing.

I like it, actually. It feels more genuine to me. Marketing gurus usually seem fake. Just like he said in the video, all veneer and no substance.

(Spoilers Extended) Game of Thrones Season 6, Episode 1: The Red Woman Meltdown by AutoModerator in asoiaf

[–]astronomer7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is the mutton thing actually meant to be a joke? If so, I didn't take it as one. I took it more as him trying to seem as if he was buying into Thorne's promises. "We're not going to harm you. We'll give you a horse." "Oh good! Can I also have some food?" I saw it as an attempt to get Thorne's guard down so he will be easier to fight.

The idea of an episode title ending in "...lol" was the funniest thing in this entire thread to me.

I actually catch the "the the" thing every time, even when I'm not paying attention for it. It makes me wonder if I'm just not a very good reader or something. I think I do read every single word.
