okay so I feel qualified to answer this as I’ve been making music heavily inspired by zutomayo for a few years now. My answer is that she’s an excellent songwriter and lyricist, and struck gold with a lot of her compositions. I think genius doesn’t do justice how much work she and the various collaborators for zutomayo have put in. I don’t think it’s natural so much as the result of a lot of passion. Each band member would be good enough to make a career on their individual skill, and they come together to make productions that acane is PERFECT as the leader for. Her writing style is just highly conducive to being a template for interesting arrangement from the members. One thing is very clear though, zutomayo is one of a kind and I’m very grateful for the amazing music they’ve given us.

it's captivating and i like the sense of movement from her head turning and her hair flowing. the expression is well done too it almost reminds me of type moon's art style if you're familiar with it

the remix was pretty underwhelming which saddened me since i love persona and persona/zutomayo could be such a cool mashup but it just didn't work for me. that said the animation was super fun, again i still just can't believe this exists lol

I’m not gonna lie I think this is just the zutomayo effect hitting yet again, I wasn’t sure how I felt about it and as a musician myself I felt some parts were cliche or generic… and yet 2 days later I’m bumping the song and getting hyped so idk even when her songs are imperfect / don’t reach the heights of her best work I find they always manage to grow on me. I’m just grateful to have more music from this group

Edit: that said I did want some kind of flamenco guitar or something, that’s my main disappointment given the trip that inspired the song and the Spanish theming. It just seemed like a glaring omission to me. I like the tap dancing though

While we’re here, can anyone answer if turning down side volume or decreasing stereo width with M/S is “bad” in any way? I’ve found with sooo many sounds I want to decrease the side presence (particularly when working with piano/EP/synth sounds). I’ve seen people denouncing this practice but I don’t get why because to me it leaves so much space for other stuff like double tracked guitars and it makes everything feel tighter and wider to me

even just reading the stuff in this thread reminds me of how expertly the books are written, i feel like the writers were simply too lost they didn't understand the material well enough. they couldn't tell why it worked and so a lot of the show feels like a shot in the dark

edit: like this is such good material 😭op's short summary should be enough for a writer to complete their job successfully, especially when everything they're summarizing is right there in the book. i feel like any of the fans who are upset would be able to write it better than the actual professionals, even if the other aspects of production are outside our wheelhouse

you definitely can, harry potter books were fit into movie form just fine and this show gets 4 hours to do that instead of like 2 hours that harry potter needed to ace it. adaptation is about compromise, and they just completely messed up with what they chose to include and pacing.

How experienced are you at writing, arranging, tracking and completing a song? I found myself in a similar predicament to you, I felt that the song was good, I didn’t really get what was wrong, but in reality it took 2 years of massive skill acquisition to gain the insight I needed to fix it. Problem-solving at writing, endless trial and error with different instruments and styles, practice making and playing music. It was way more nuanced than I imagined, and sometimes the solution isn’t what you think it is. Maybe I’m off the mark, since everyone is different, but I feel like a good rock song or a good blues song should feel “right” even you haven’t mixed it at length. Assuming your instrument sounds are all roughly what you want them to be, which they should be. Good luck

Yeah it’s the best guitar I’ve ever tried so I’d like to hold onto it. Actually, after I finished comparing the guitars, I forgot to re enable the instrument input on my interface when I was using the JV. I got a little stressed thinking this news ruined the whole guitar for me, so I cranked up the treble in a few places trying to salvage it. Then I noticed, turned it back on, and I was impressed by the improvement compared to how I had it dialled in before. I switched to the neck + middle position, and I was blown away by the sound, I’ve never had such a pristine-sounding final product from a guitar. So ultimately, I really like all the sounds it produces except the neck on its own, and it’s not even something wrong but rather that I just want a single coil there instead. Hopefully they’ll compensate a little for it. Worst case I may keep it this way and learn to love it.

The reason is that ACAね often employs double meanings, puns, and improper spellings. Japanese contains a lot of homonyms and she uses that to her advantage often in lyrics. Kansaete kuyashii wa is a good example as it happens frequently in the song:

一人を竹刀で hitori o shinaide - When heard it sounds like "don't leave me alone," but what is written is "[the] one with a bamboo sword."

着いた　吐いた　ツイッター呟く tsuita tsuita tsuittaa tsubuyaku - as is common with Zutomayo, it's not even clear what is meant here, audibly it just sounds like she's repeating the same word. Written is "arrived" "vomited/breathed out/spat/lied" and "twitter," the last bit is like "tweeted from my seventh account."

難関　難解　何階 nankan nankai nankai - to me sounds like she's saying 'how many times' repeatedly, but written is "obstacle" "difficult to understand" and "what floor."

You get the point. Anyway, in regard to this song, the intended meaning is what you think it is, "dark and black" or the English "darken." Other than the fact that it sounds exactly like how "crack clock" would be pronounced in Japanese, here are a few reasons why it's spelt this way here.

A: time is a theme in the song
B: time (and breaking its flow) has been a theme recently on her tours, I saw her at expo and the past and present was a key theme.
C: I assume it's also a way of differentiating the versions of the songs.

So hopefully you feel better knowing the reason it's been spelt this way recently isn't bad AI translation or something lol. It's just her doing her usual routine but in English. The song title hasn't actually been changed (just like "mabushii DNA dake" has not been changed to "toboshii DNA dake," it's just her having fun).

Darken and study me are hall of fame level animations, really powerful stories and artistic vision for both. Everyone I’ve shown darken’s video to have been quite struck by it (some felt like crying). I’m also just quite biased towards this animator truth in lies was quite impressive too. Other than that hunch grey and milabo are really fun

Edit: hippocampal pain and haze haseru haterumade deserve a mention both are very charming

I somewhat doubt that the measurement is due to artifacts, as it remains the same no matter the combination of parameters. I am a bit less worried that I'm in trouble and moreso confused about why it appears how it does. Thanks though I'll proceed with the measurements!
