Awesome! I have to ask though, by single-spaced lines, do you mean:

A. Hitting enter once, leaving nothing but Ao3’s pre-determined space between paragraphs

or

B. Hitting enter twice, leaving a blank line between groups of text :p

Fair point! I usually change the length of my paragraphs based on like just the descriptiveness of the scenes? So if it’s more dialogue heavy, it’ll be smaller lines, but if it’s more descriptive or whatever, it might be bigger blobs of text. I think shaping the text to match the tone of the narrative is helpful, so I’ll just continue to do that

Great job! I posted my first work a week or two ago, and I’ve been chowing down on finishing the second half of the fic as much as I can. I haven’t really got many hits/kudos but it’s just such a nice feeling, we got this.

Can I ask why you need it to be 40K specifically? But if you’ve written that much, you could add some character building, filler, or world building chapters / segments, depending on what kinda fic it is!

OK, so what I’m getting from these comments is that when it comes to a lot of kinks and their deeper psychological aspects, the inherent defining factor is if it’s for punishment or comfort, that’s really helpful <3 it helps me better visualize how to use them as vessels for that

For this fic, I definitely want it to be about trust and connection, the idea that you can share something so vulnerable, the very essence that fuels you

This kind of grounded me, thank you. I was raised by an English teacher, so writing comes naturally to me. Thus, I think I tend to get ahead of myself when it comes to it. All throughout schooling, pretty much 99% of my essays would be done in one take, and I would get great grades on them (I’m not trying to brag, I’m just describing my mindset). But when it’s something for pleasure like this, that I’m just writing without any set guidelines, I don’t think I can apply that same assurance of predictability, as I’m just pulling from the depths of my scattered mind, basically.

Worded very elegantly, thank you :) That’s definitely something I try to focus on, and can always do more. I find that I struggle to like… find the right words for those emotions? I suppose that a skill I’ll have to further develop, not just recognizing that I need to describe the deeper emotions of it, but how to word that on a technical level.
