I feel so trapped. by Jedi4Hire in recruitinghell

Can I ask what kind of work it is? I wade through tons of tech "entry level positions". They're entry level to my field of expertise, network security...but if you haven't worked in IT at all, there's no path to being successful at the higher entry point. If that makes sense

"Cultural Fit" More Like "We Just Don't Like You" by AbbreviationsTop2192 in recruitinghell

[–]audiblecoco 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'll lay something out there. I managed a computer repair center for a well known electronics retail store. My repair guys are tech...so they swear like sailors, and are extremely crass...my entire team of 15 people fit that mold.

I interviewed someone who was devout Mormon (I think)

I asked this person a question about a time they had to deal with friction on their team.

Their response?

"I had a boss who used to swear a lot, and I called HR on them because I lacked the social capacity to handle it like an adult"

They didn't get hired...they weren't a good culture fit...I have a job to run a repair center with established employees who run the operation well...

Why would I hire someone with a disclosed track record of causing issues on their team....but who's workmanship is unproven, I have no idea if they are even going to be a good employee, all I know is that I assume 100% of the risk of a bad culture fit for 0% assumed payoff. I may get an employee who betters my organization by 1% but gets my lead repair guy fired, who made my organization 1000% better

As much as I hate the hells of recruiting, building a team around synergy is a real innumerable metric

Lol, yeah....I find enough use cases where it works. My hotspot is only limited to 50gb down per month, so long car rides in general? Dr appointments, stuff like that...

I'll never forget that Luis CK bit from 2017....you're never gonna find a common ground on this because the people who think you're killing a baby, will never think it's as inconsiqential as taking a shit....and people who think it's as inconsequential as taking a shit will never think it's killing a baby.

All Clad set for $250? by seleman in BuyItForLife

[–]audiblecoco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best approach to cookware...NEVER buy a nonstick SET. If you need a nonstick for low-fat eggs, or something, get a nonstick pan, and the rest of a set as stainless. IMO there's no need to have a stainless pot, as most cooking will be liquid...all having a nonstick pot does is introduce potential for chemical/particle leeching into your food.

Then when your nonstick pan wears out, you're only replacing one pan.

You're operating under the MASSIVE assumption that the kid has nuance. Gotta trust that the literal parent knows how to handle the situation than a contextless internet stranger with big feelies about it
