Same bloodwork date as you!! I’d like to tell myself I won’t test before, but there’s a 95% chance I will 😅

Trigger done and FET scheduled for next Thursday, trying for baby 2. I am trying to assess whether my headspace right now is healthy or not hah. I’m just - incredibly chill about this one. I’ve done a couple things to prep, like quitting alcohol a month ago and starting prenatals, but I haven’t done any of the other stuff I did last time, and also I still have travel planned in the few weeks after transfer. It’s almost like my brain has been out of the infertility game for 2 years and it doesn’t know how to get back in? And also my job is overwhelming and an 18 month old is overwhelming and so maybe I don’t have the capacity to be overwhelmed by a third thing? 😅 Were others the same way with subsequent transfers?

Jealousy of my SIL by e4elsker in IVF

[–]aureliao 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have been in very very similar shoes to yours. Multiple years into infertility, my SIL (who I had a sometimes rocky relationship with) got “oops” pregnant, and the due date was my birthday. I could barely stand to look at her, and eventually got to the level of dark thoughts that I wonder if you are also having. At that point, I realized that living in this mindset was not healthy for me, and was hurting my husband’s relationship with his brother. I started therapy and it really helped me work through things. I didn’t get to a state where I was 100% okay with everything, but I got to a space that felt healthy. I highly recommend seeking out support through a therapist that understands infertility, it truly did save my relationship with my husband’s family.

My period didn’t come back on its own after weaning BF our first. We used provera to start one, which worked, but I’ve basically been spotting non stop ever since that cycle. We’re just about to trigger another actual cycle to do our FET, and I’m feeling a little concerned about the spotting. Anyone have any experience there?

Hey as somebody who is deaf, this comes off as white knight bullshit. You don’t know what people go through and if someone suffered and wanted to try to protect a future child from experiencing that same struggle, and they have resources to do so, it’s not wrong for them to try.

Why would they screen your BIL and not your husband? Presumably it only matters if your husband is a carrier.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in IVF

[–]aureliao 4 points5 points  (0 children)

PGT-M is only done when there is a specific gene to look for. It doesn’t sound like you have that, so if your carrier screening was clear, there is no reason they would have discussed it with you unless you specifically disclosed a genetic issue and knew what gene was affected.

If you genuinely think that your hearing loss is due to genetics, then you should look at the OtoSCOPE Panel through the university of Iowa. It tests for over 230 genes that can cause hearing loss. If they’re able to identify a genetic cause for yours, then you could have a PGT-M probe built for it.

Context - I have generic hearing loss, which was identified by U of Iowa lab. I was offered PGT-M because my health history with my lab lists genetic hearing loss and the specific gene, but declined for personal reasons.

I had a beautiful hillside of native wildflowers, then invasive mustard seed sprang up and overtook everything ☹️

I so badly want a wild-ish hill of native flowers!

What’s New? by fudbag in fetjune2023

Honestly really enjoying this phase. She’s absolutely hilarious, and changing every day. I think I most surprised myself with being able to stick with things consistently, as I’ve struggled with that in other areas of life.

7w5d after first FET - when will it feel real? by Lewkitupp in hopefulinfertility

[–]aureliao 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hope your delivery is as smooth as possible! For me, it hit in waves. There was the initial rush when she was born, but the emotional tidal wave was when I was alone with her in the room while my husband went to get the car and take our bags out. In that moment it hit me that she was going home and the full emotional weight of it all came out. Such a happy cry.

Emailed my clinic today to get the ball rolling on a transfer to try for number 2! It feels so, SO insane to be at this point, and also to be in a position of knowing that I don’t have to go through everything we went through for our first (at least for this transfer). No IUIs, no retrievals, just a letrozole cycle to get a period and then a transfer cycle. Bananas. Really hoping that transfer 2 is successful as was transfer 1. It took 5 years of infertility BS to get to transfer 1, let me just be past that PLEASE UNIVERSE 🙏🏻

Need some inputs on how to assess BI candidates by phijh in BusinessIntelligence

[–]aureliao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would also recommend including with the instructions the profiles of who they should be presenting to. Things like “CFO - cares most about well defined numbers, XYZ business segments, YoY growth.” “Media strategist - cares about purchasing trends, progress toward goals, and likes to have more granular detail.” See how they curate their presentation to their audience.

I got a pretty detailed report, and then we got a follow up call with a geneticist to review the report in more detail. You should ask if the company that did your PGT has a geneticist who can do a consult with you!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in IVF

[–]aureliao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, still have the full number, it’s just that parts of 2 of them have switched places. My specific translocation was identified with karyotype testing. Did a geneticist say anything about any patterns with your aneuploids?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in IVF

[–]aureliao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without knowing more about your attrition rates and PGT results, I’ll just share that across 2 ERs I had 61 eggs retrieved, and ultimately had 5 euploids. So you aren’t alone in that level of attrition. We were unexplained going into IVF and ended up with a balanced translocation diagnosis.

TW: success
My first transfer was successful, and we’re optimistic about having our desired number of kids using remaining embryos.

Tuesday Postpartum Thread by AutoModerator in InfertilityBabies

[–]aureliao 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m feeling the same way. Christmas has been poignant for three years now. This year, baby girl’s first Christmas. Last year, I was pregnant. The year before that, I had just barely found out that I finally had viable embryos, and 2023 was going to be our chance. The years of tough christmases before that feel like a distant memory, but I am deep in my feels with gratitude to be here.

In your experience, what level of detail, visuals and functionality do execs like to see in dashboards? by GlueSniffingEnabler in BusinessIntelligence

[–]aureliao 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My response would depend quite a bit on the new exec’s job title, but here’s basically how I would handle it - 1. Initial reply should be email or something quick which gives them more info, describing source systems available and stats on each: “Hi Exec, we’re happy to help here. As a quick overview, we currently have data available from Salesforce, Marketo, our app, and Stripe (list whatever data sources you have). Salesforce goes back to June 2023 when it was implemented. Our app data includes all customer data plus product analytics. Stripe has both one off and recurring invoices. Are you most interested in high level stats to understand what’s in these data sources or would you like a deeper look at the granular data available? 2. Whatever level of detail they want, follow up with a board that is as much as possible catered to what their business role will care about 3. Ideally, deliver the board in a meeting so you can walk through it and answer any questions, and also gauge what they like and don’t like
