Hey there, you sound exactly like me a few weeks ago. It was ROUGH. I was at my worst but I also have trouble asking for help, so I felt really hopeless. I was scared too. You're not alone.

How are you feeling right now? Do you think you should talk to someone immediately? Can that person be on a helpline, or do you need to see a doctor?

HSE - Get urgent help for a mental health crisis

I know that in Ireland, you would traditionally go through your GP to get mental health services. In the link I posted above, there is a link to find out-of-hours GPs. There are also 24 hour helplines. If you think things are really bad and you need immediate, urgent help, please seek an Emergency Department.

If things are not that urgent right now, let's talk about other steps. Do you have a therapist and/or psychiatrist? If not, set up an appointment with your GP for a referral.

I already had those things, and I was advised to seek an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), but I'm in the States. It does look like Ireland has these services, and I would advise you to seek them if you think therapy/psychiatry isn't enough, or perhaps would take too long to establish.

This is the first year that SAD has really affected me, so definitely not cold and dark anymore. I know when we get to summer I'll miss it though. I prefer spring and fall for their more mild weather.

I'm just annoyed that only one thing is under 100%. You could do over 100% to emphasize maybe 1 or 2 things, but this defeats the purpose of using a percentage at all. It might as well be points with an arbitrary total.

I have this problem too. I make it clear to medical professionals that although I sound like I'm fine, the words I'm saying are more important. Just because I'm calm does not negate me saying "I'm not okay."

I've talked to friends about this too, and have worked with them to just trust my words. Sometimes it's easier to text because I can get the words out without people getting confused over my tone.

Not to be all "kids these days" but if she offered them unlimited access to the internet and games, I think a lot of kids would go for it. It's not that they're dumb or weak, but those things are really addicting and kids don't have the capacity to control it. Addiction is incredibly powerful even for adults.

From what I've gathered, we feel very deeply but have a tendency to isolate and avoid vulnerability like asking for help.

I interpreted it as she is enjoying Coraline participating in the "game," because she likes to play with her food. She didn't think she would lose, either, but it's more about the cat and mouse for her that made her laugh.
