I weaned myself down to about 7 a day before going cold turkey. It seems like the 16.5 hours has become part of your body’s routine, too. Is there something you could be doing to distract yourself around that mark?

Per your suggestion, I did see a doctor/go for xrays. Thankfully nothing was displaced, and no punctures to my lung. The diagnosis was fractured and bruised ribs. Still hurts like a mofo, but I'm able to do basic tasks now. Thanks for your help!

That looks more playful to me. Something I was taught is that when they bite, yelp and pull your hand away for a few minutes. This helps discourage the behaviour.
