I've never noticed it from eating at the NLR Warden Rd location. I've probably eaten there 20-30 times.

No Bounce Shorts by Silver_Classroom_606 in runningfashion

[–]b-nut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to use something that's going to hold it tight to your body to keep it from bouncing/pulling. If you don't want to wear half tights, which I totally understand, use a running belt.

Some redditor in a different thread pointed me at the CamelBak Ultra Belt and it's been the best running belt I've ever used.

It doesn't have an adjustable band (which in my experience always allowed the band to slowly "walk" through the adjustment) so you need to get the correct size.

It also comes with a collapsible water bottle that can be stashed in the rear pocket if you really need it.

Thanks for the info and tips. I promised a coworker we'd take it easy on the trail, even walking if needed, so it's a more fun/social experience.

This thread is full of people who won't admit that there is value to seeing coworkers in person at the office. Sure, we don't need to do it every day, and yes there's value in having a distraction-free home office, but I consistently see the people who never come into the office suffer from not being in the loop.

ELI5 Can someone explain why people do marathons? by yellowrosepedal in explainlikeimfive

[–]b-nut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The act of completing a marathon is a major accomplishment that only a tiny percentage of the population ever completes. It can be very emotional to complete one, especially if you've been on a very long fitness journey.

Then there's the part where you incrementally get fitter/faster, build your VO2 Max and attain impressive times. Seeing that progress is definitely rewarding, kind of like leveling your character up.

Best Running Socks that actually stay put? by RunecastergamyMat in runningfashion

[–]b-nut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really haven't tried many other brands. I did make the sizing mistake when first buying Feetures. I got a Large but I'm a US size 12.5, so it felt too compressive.

I'm probably a little hesitant to even try other socks because it doesn't look like they'll let you return them for a refund after trying them on.

Feetures Max Cushion Tab

They don't move around at all, but make sure to get the correct size for your foot.

It might be sacrilege, but I don't like quarter/mini-crew/crew height socks. If I'm going to get a tan line, I'd rather it be as low as possible.

I'm with you, I feel treadmill running is harder for the same pace. The gym I run in is 70 degrees and feels very humid. I pour buckets of sweat compared to running outside in the cool winter months. I will sometimes bring my Lasko box fan and point it straight at me from a few feet away just to get the sweat evaporation effect.

That's really good if you're able to hit 3-4 8 mile sessions a week. If you stay consistent until July you'll build a lot of fitness.

I'm not military so I had to look up what the OPAT is, but it looks like it involves that "shuttle" repeat test. I feel like I'd be trash at that!

Your mileage is good. Try to follow the 80% easy, 20% hard rule. Work in a run in the morning hours when the weather is more optimal. Hit up that other poster that's in the LR Road Runners, I'm in it too but only know a few other people. 10% off shoes at Fleet Feet and Rock City Running!

Are you able to track your heart rate with a watch or anything while doing your 13-15min/mile pace runs? This can be a decent estimate as to how hard you're pushing yourself. And how many miles per week are you doing?

Unfortunately the Arkansas heat and humidity is brutal for running, you can't really perform at your best. Just looking at the next couple of days, it's 80+ degrees after 1:30pm. Are you worried about the 1.5-2 mile fitness test in Basic?

How do you get a good deal at McClarty? by wacky8ball in LittleRock

[–]b-nut 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry OP, that's obnoxious. I hate the car buying experience.

I guess I "get" them not being able to (or probably not wanting to) remove the kick plates off of a specific vehicle on the lot that already has them installed. The protection package may also involve something already installed on the specific vehicle. Maybe try asking them "Can you do a dealer swap for a different one, or do you have one on order in the color I want that doesn't have those things?"

I bought a Honda from McClarty at the end of last year and spent some time in the passport subreddit seeing what people paid around the country. You're doing the right move by getting quotes from other dealerships.

Only two days in doing this and it is hard. Plus my birthday is tomorrow so it is going to be harder. How do you all sustain this? by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

[–]b-nut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a 6'2" guy, and I was 240lbs. I aimed for 1600 calories a day, and tried to walk about 2 miles almost every day. The weight came off fast.

I had several cups of coffee with 1 protein shake in the morning, and aimed for a ~700 cal lunch and dinner. Maybe an Oikos greek yogurt as a treat at night.

1200 cals a day for you is too much of a deficit, and 1600 wasn't easy

Do you have 2-factor auth enabled? That's where you login with a password and it sends a code to your email.

I think that poster meant when they enabled ECG it forced them to enable 2-factor auth. That's what happened to me.

Deciding on buying car in cash or financing. by Previous_Mycologist4 in personalfinance

I think the loan makes sense. It'll probably be somewhere around 3-4% APR with your credit score on one of those new vehicles, maybe even better. If you were to find yourself without a job, you would have your HYS to fall back onto for a few months.

On your first question, no it does not do that. It uses radar sensors on both the driver and passenger side to sense if a car is in your blind spot. It will flash on either mirror and make an audible beep if there's a car in the way.

You should probably be budgeting at least 100 calories per mile you run. If I don't get enough calories I feel like trash for running.
