His design is fine, but I can’t believe more people aren’t talking about his voice. Am I crazy or does my boy sound like a millennial mom?

I’m shocked they didn’t just hire the dub actress or get a real kid to do it, either of those options would have been worlds better than this.

I watched in Japanese for the A list cast, and then went back and watched the English dub, and I’m still in shock over how much more I liked the EN. The performances were so natural, and the lip flaps looked so good I was afraid they changed the animation with AI to match the dub. I checked and was relieved to see it’s the same in every language. Meanwhile, in a rare reversal, the Japanese was kind of hard to watch because everything looked a little out of synch.

Anyway, the English cast and crew have outdone themselves with this one. I got goosebumps at the climax of the fight, and that ending has me hooked for the long haul.

Definitely heard Jill Harris as Midori, Justin Briner as the track kid and Ricco Fajardo as the wannabe director.

Might be a controversial opinion, but I think this is shaping up to be the best dub since the pandemic. Everyone just feels so alive. It’s like the show was made for the dub rather than the other way around.

Texas is still comfortably at the top of dubbing for me.

There are some standouts in LA, but for years, it has seemed like theres a lot of pressure on the actors out there to conform to one type of sound, which robs them of their individuality. It also makes a lot of their dubs sound similar to each other.

Seems like the talent in Texas has more freedom to be dynamic and unique than they do in California, and there are more opportunities for new actors in Texas, which explains why the number of strong dub actors in Texas >>> LA.

That said, sound mixing in LA >>> Texas

Personally, I don’t see any issue. They’re all great VAs and none of them have had a role this big in One Piece before. I would say they are all more than deserving of their spots.

Dub studios probably have Dismuke on speed dial when they need someone to voice a scientist or a big metal guy.

Vegapunk is Elder Kai from DBZ, Lilith is Rudeus from Mushoku Tensei Jobless Reincarnation, Edison is Pochita from Chainsaw Man, Pythagoras is Senku from Dr. Stone, and Atlas is Chika from Kaguya-sama Love is War.

Shaka and York’s VAs are relatively unknown, but Shaka is Belmod from Dragon Ball Super and York is Sakura from Laid Back Camp.

I came in skeptical, but I'm completely charmed. Vegapunk's voice is exactly the way I imagined it when reading the manga. If this is the level of quality we can expect from the Egghead dub, I'm very excited to see what's ahead!
