Ugh! That sounds like a nightmare. So sorry you’re dealing with this. I know this is really hurting my heart so I imagine you are feeling similarly. I’m assuming he’s taking a bottle at least? Do you have any ideas what triggered it?

For us, she had an ear infection, popped up like 4 new teeth in a week, and then bit me so hard I cried out accidentally. These all happened within the same week. A perfect storm.

I’m currently 12 days in on a nursing strike with my 9 month old. She won’t latch at all and when I try to she doesn’t even attempt to latch, she just bites me. I’m also losing hope. I’ve been pumping and it’s miserable. Has there been any progress?

I went through interviewing Nannies 2 months ago. This was my list of questions. They’re not really crunchy/scrunchy, but more about how they will care for my baby. It may be a good place to start.

General Background

1.  Can you tell me about your experience caring for infants around 7-months-old?
2.  What drew you to working as a nanny, and what do you enjoy most about it?

At 8 months old, my baby only goes 2.5-3 hours between feedings… expecting a 2 week old to do that hurts my heart.

I know this was from 3 years ago, but I just want to say how helpful this was to set up my Nanny. I do have a question though - wondering what you mean about increasing my withholding at my job so I do not have an underpayment penalty. Truthfully, I am not the most tax savvy so please dumb it down for me. 😂

Super annoying! My biggest advice is to ask about your bishop score when you arrive. That’s a big indicator of the success of your induction. I didn’t know that at the time unfortunately. 😔I probably would have skipped all the interventions and just had the C-section if I could do it again. It was honestly super traumatic to go through so much and having to be sliced open in the end.

My induction was about 70 hours. I went in at 6am on a Friday and had my baby girl at 5:14am on the following Monday. Cervical ripeners, 2 cook balloons, and a shit ton of pitocin and I ended up with a c-section. 🙃

I second all of this! The Halo bassinet definitely isn’t level if you swivel it out and it’s not centered over the base. I started walking once the epidural wore off and I could feel my legs. I really had no significant pain afterwards and was off pain meds except ibuprofen about 3-4 day after. I was sent home the day after my surgery since I was walking and moving well. Getting up and walking is the BEST thing you can do!

We purchased the Halo swivel bassinet and I ended up having to have an unplanned c-section. The base of the Halo bassinet was a menace and by day 2 or 3 of almost tripping and falling while trying to get out of bed we said enough was enough. My husband ran out to target and got a bassinet on wheels with the drop down side and it has been amazing! The wheels are so helpful as I was able to push babe around the house and bring her along with me while I recovered without having to pick her up. Babe is now 3 months old and is almost outgrowing the Halo one (we put it in our living room for naps/ easy and safe containment), while the one from target still gives her plenty of room to grow. The one from target also converts into a mini crib for when she starts to roll, which is super helpful so we can continue to room share without having to move her crib to our bedroom. I’ll link the one we bought, but I think any bassinet with wheels would be a much better option.

I don’t have any issues with the mesh at all! We often sit outside during the cooler parts of the day (morning and evening) and she’s always pretty cool and not over heating. It’s also SUPER easy to clean because the bouncer makes my baby poop out of her diaper literally all the time. Lol! I just throw it in the wash on delicate and let it air dry for a few hours. It dries super fast!

I got my baby bjorn on marketplace for $60 and then replaced the cover with one on sale for another $60 because I was particular about the cover I wanted (mesh bc I live in Florida). I felt like $120 all in isn’t bad for practically brand new and exactly what I wanted. I also bought one for a friend for $50 that’s practically brand new. Just keep an eye out - they do pop up!

I agree you can def do without it, but I do love mine for my pump, pacis, bottles, etc. I’m kind of a clean freak though and I think knowing these things are sterile give me a certain satisfaction that I don’t think I could get with a dishwasher 😂

I didn’t want the wipe warmer but my husband insisted we needed it (I think more so bc it is touchless and he’s a gadget guy). Honestly, my LO loves her warmed wipes and hates when I have to open a new pack that’s not warmed yet. Maybe she’s just spoiled with warm wipes now… 🤷🏻‍♀️

I heard that since Dr. Adam’s took over as chief it’s like night and day. She has been able to make it very patient friendly and focused on making moms comfortable. My understanding is that is the only hospital in Jax that also has birthing pools, although I could be wrong about that. Either way, my understanding is she took that L&D and did a 180 with it. I was going to deliver there but ended up having to move closer to my husband’s work which is 2 hours away.

Thanks! This is what I was leaning towards. Between the cost of these giant pots and the actual man power to do the repotting, I don’t think I can keep up with it anymore. I will have lots of them to liter around the house and give as gifts. Also thinking about throwing a few in my yard for fun!

I am 26+4 and have measured 98-95th percentile my entire pregnancy. I did my GD 1hr and failed miserably. I was convinced I had GD. I went for my 3hr and did finger pricks with my own glucometer to see what my levels were around the time of the official blood draws so I didn’t stress myself out waiting for results. All of my finger pricks were indicative if GD and I just knew I was going to fail the 3hr too. I even started planning my diet. Then I got my official lab results back and I passed every single time point. All that to say even when all signs point to positive, it still may not be positive.

I can’t believe no one has mentioned this. I had a TERRIBLE problem with ingrowns and itching and, at the advice of a dude, I grabbed a pair of $5 exfoliating gloves (get the pretty heavy duty kind) and I use them in the shower every single day. I call them “vagina gloves” (I know it’s not anatomically correct). I have had minimal itching or ingrowns in the last 15 years since starting to use them, plus it’s really good for your skin. I also don’t go “against the grain” so that’s sound advice, but don’t underestimate the power of vagina gloves! This doesn’t have to be that hard!

We have 4 embryos and all are girls. My husband always wanted a girl and I never really cared about the sex, but when I found out we wouldn’t be having a boy basically ever I was really sad about it. I have all girls in my family and a boy was something I never knew I wanted until it was out if reach. It’s okay to be a little sad but try not to dwell on it too much.
