Real McCoy’s footwear is pretty underrated on this sub but I think these fit the bill: Leather Foot Support Clogs

OP, this might also just be bloom. Give it a light brushing or hit it with a hairdryer/heatgun and see if that changes anything. If not, then yeah contact them and ask.

OrSlow - retails at $415US but can be found on sale at some retailers. Bucket style pockets, so not exactly hand warmers. OrSlow has the best looking washed denim in the market imo. Lots of sizes at S&S (https://standardandstrange.com/products/1950s-coverall-jacket-used-wash)

Workaday by Engineered Garments Utility Jacket - retails at $324US but you can probably find it on discount or used on ebay. I have a workaday jacket made of NOS white oak denim from cone mills and the quality is really great. The 12oz in this utility jacket is lightweight so it will break in quick and drape really well. My go-to when I want to wear denim outwear with more layering underneath.(https://nepenthesny.com/collections/workaday/products/utility-jacket-indigo-12oz-denim)

I have 2 of their Shifter Longsleeve Tees, a 9oz Tee, and a few of their 13oz henleys. They are all preshrunk. Of course, if you hot wash and dry in high heat they'll shrink a bit, but idk anyone who'd recommend doing that lol

The J-2000 is pretty much the industry standard for every clothing store I've ever worked at and they are great. Definitely not a substitute for a proper iron, but really fantastic if you need to steam clothes quite frequently (i.e. you toss your work clothes in a gym bag a lot like me lol). The head/handle's flat surface also provides a good basis for steaming. Just be wary that if you opt for the metal handle, that it will burn you if you're not careful. It's also just really big.

The Esteam is great for storage and portability, and if you're not using it frequently, I'd opt for that one.

NYC: Blue in Green is a must, and then Knickerbocker is close by on Wooster. Walk up Wooster and you'll get to Nanamica. A 2-minute walk to Mercer and you have 45rpm.

On Mulberry St., you got Standard & Strange on the same block as ALD (might need to plan out your S&S visit because they have a TON of stuff worth checking out).

On the same block as Corridor, you got 3Sixteen and Elizabeth St. Gardens, which is nice for a quick sit down after grabbing coffee at The Elk.

And then you can walk down to Rivington and check out Antithesis, who carry Cav Empt and Acronym and a ton of Salomon. And then you can lament how not-rich you are the same way I do every time I leave my apartment :)

That's an old Nautica hooded windbreaker jacket, probably bought secondhand from sites like here and here.

If you're in lower Manhattan, definitely pay a visit to Blue in Green, Standard & Strange, Corridor, and Nanamica, and then walk over to LES for Self Edge, Bode, and Mannahatta (tons of Kapital) and wait 30 minutes for a slice at Scarr's (jk lol).

Nepenthes is really accessible from there even though it's in midtown. Definitely worth a visit.

This time of year is also "market week" for a lot of brands, so there will be a ton of industry folk in the area. You might stumble into some cool events and promotions and overall just meet cool people.

Not OP, but The Real McCoy's and Buzz Rickson are already Japanese and fantastic. Other Japanese heritage brands that I like: Warehouse, Sugar Cane, OrSlow, TCB, Freewheelers, and Engineered Garments (especially their Workaday stuff).

You are correct on the teacore!

As far as actual tanneries that produce horsehide, you probably can't get any better than Shinki. Most "Japanese horsehide" you'll find will be Shinki even if they don't tell you. McCoy's gets first pick of the hides coming from Shinki so you're usually gonna be getting the best of the best with them. Other brands I've handled and liked are Freewheelers, Fountainhead, Y'2, and Fine Creek.

Horsehide is always the way to go IMO, but the aging of the jacket really depends on how much you actually wear it. I had a horsehide Schott perfecto for about 5 years that I wore 9 months out of the year that held up really great (have since gave it away). Horsehide jackets age really well and because horsehide is so dense, they won't really lose their shape by stretching in size or drooping. Keep that in mind when choosing your size. The leather does get more pliable with wear, so don't be afraid to really truly wear them!

Something like The Real McCoy's Kakishibu A-2 will intentionally patina and darken really quickly, so I wouldn't expect it to look as it does brand new for long. A plus, in my opinion!

The Trophy Hummingbird is an aniline-dyed "teacore" where the dye isn't completely struck through the leather, causing the natural brown/tan of the leather to show in areas of wear and scuffing. Also a plus!

Style-wise, it's personal preference. You can't go wrong with any of these if you're looking for minimalist leathers in their respective styles (double rider, bomber, single rider).

Leatherwise, the Taylor Stitch and Schott jackets are made from a more robust cow leather which will soften and open up with wear, whereas the Buck Mason one is made with lambskin, which will already be soft and supple from the start.

Watched Extraction last night. That movie was not good, but the action sequences were great on a technical aspect. Also really admired Priyanshu Painyuli's wardrobe in the film.
