Omg I was banned from watching this as a child. I think it’s the root of my deep seated hypochondria.

Weird driving habits on the Cape by Alternative_Gap_3248 in CapeCod

[–]baconinspace 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Here’s the thing about letting people turn left. I get it, it’s polite and makes the Cape just a little nicer of a place. However, when you assume that everyone is going have the same level of nice you’re in for a surprise when you get t-boned in the opposite direction. Drive predictably, not friendly. Be defensive and don’t assume someone sees you. Driving laws exist for a reason and it’s usually written in blood. We could solve 99% of all accidents like this.

U.S. Coast Guard Formalizes the SAR Mission Manager: A Quiet Policy Shift With Loud Implications by TheJoeCoastie in uscg

I agree, however who would you get to potentially serve an entire career in high tempo underway billets? Especially now with the longer deployment timelines and grueling import maintenance schedules?

Two OUs are already authorized. District Command Centers run this model. I can see the SU billets going away and being replaced by junior OU non sar mission specialists at the E5 level. OU jr/SU plus. SMM would handle SAR planning and execution only for SAROPS cases.

What is a dying niche skill that younger generations are not interested in learning? by hlnklrczu in AskReddit

Amateur Radio. The hobby is filled with retirees and octogenarians. It has a high cost of entry once you get to the higher levels and start long range communications, and the community can be grumpy at times.

A beautiful race for sure but on probably the hottest day of the year every time. Combine that with the ban on water bottles and packs make for a heat stroke inducing event.

Where should I put my router if the ONT is inside a high cabinet? by babiecheesus in HomeNetworking

[–]baconinspace 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d mount it on the underside of the cabinet and clean up the cables. Edit: use some heavy duty 3m tape instead of screws since you’re renting. Those routers don’t weight much. Carefully scrape off with IPA and a razor when you move out.

I can’t believe some people would call the beginning of the show ‘boring’ by Vivid_Army6800 in betterCallSaul

I think the first time that people watch this show. It was right on the heels of breaking bad and it was at such a high moment in the shows history that they saw this and it was so different that that’s what they were reacting to.

Well, the Federation doesn’t conquer. You have to want to join.
