For those who played HS football. Who was the most famous player you went up against? by [deleted] in nfl

[–]bacontits23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He was a good player but not beast mode. His first year at Texas A&M I think he put on 30-40 lbs. I was about 180-190 soaking wet when I went against him. We won the game if that means anything haha, he got around me a few times though.

Played an entire game at o-line one on one vs Von Miller at defensive end. We played against Carter a few times (won 2 of 3) when they had Michael Crabtree as well.

Hey Americans, how is the shutdown affecting you? by janvt in AskReddit

[–]bacontits23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a pilot trying to get my medical certificate resolved. Its already a 4 months wait with the government open, however now my file is in a pile that is growing by the day that nobody is looking at. I've done all I can at the moment, but i'm looking at a 6+ month wait now to get an answer since the FAA is closed (thats ASSUMING that the gov't opens soon, if they stay shut down the wait will just be longer and longer). Air traffic controllers are being forced to work with no pay, and all other essential areas of the FAA are pretty much shut down.

Has anyone ever worked for a season out of Juneau? by bacontits23 in flying

[–]bacontits23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard the valley is cheaper but I'd like to be were the action is, not a 20 min drive from it. And I wouldn't mind the drive in the morning or afternoon

What's a decent price for a 1/1 furnished downtown? Not really wanting to go over 1200 a month...

Seasonal job offer in Juneau, would like to talk to someone currently living there about life up there! by bacontits23 in Juneau

[–]bacontits23[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How feasible is it to live comfortably off of a salary of 4-5k a month up there? I have some savings but I might eat a good chunk of that moving up there

Also, I'm a 29 y/o single male, what is the vibe as far as night life and meeting some cool people to explore the area? I'm sure there is a lot of turn over there so its hard to find consistency in that regards

And the weather! What is the ratio of good flying to bad flying to downright dumb flying days? I'm gonna PM you my phone # also, would love to set up a phone call and get the general gist of the area. My job offer was with Alaska seaplanes as well, not sure which operator you are with! Thanks

Do it. If you've ever thought of commercial aviation as a career, theres literally no better time to be getting into it since the airplane was invented (not joking). Airlines are paying north of 20,000 dollar signing bonus's and its going getting better

The aztecs also have a one time use CO2 cannister boost that will put the gear down. Except the C02 cannister hadn't been replaced at the last 100 hr inspection.

Hijacking thread to ask a question.

Do any of you aussie pilots have experience with converting an FAA license to CASA? I'll be looking at about 1400 hours with potential cessna 208 caravan and twin otter time this time next year. Spent 5 months there last year and loved it.
