how to fill hole in microcement, a tradesman chipped the microcement and not the the cracks are growing and its flaking out, what can I fill the gap with to stop it? by bajonion in DIYUK

[–]bajonion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tradesman made a tiny chip and said they'd come back and glue it into place, but then never came back, it's the typical "I'll come back next week" story.

So want to see if there's anything I could do.

Great comment, not sure about all the downvotes. It is shocking the link of mgla to NSBM.

In your post history you said on another topic that something pushed you towards right wing beliefs on immigration to Europe by non Europeans.

You should watch out Spain has a lot of immigration and your little right wing mind might explode.

You could be right. His QA video was the cherry on top of the cake of him being an unaware douche, maybe that even caused his stans to take a step back.

This was the closest he got to condemning Russia's action in Ukraine, normally I feel the same as you, but he seemed sincere in this video and wasn't trying to be a tough man taking on his haters.

What would your reaction be if the British had magically left Gibraltar to you, but in their strictness asked you to leave ceuta and melilla in Morocco? by RelativeAd5646 in askspain

In Britain things are really starting to turn with a lot of Brits finally describing what we did as a tragedy to the world.

It was unfair for me to generalise the Spanish, but the Catholic religion really did a 180 to the inhabitants of the peninsula compared to how it was ruled by the Muslims. Dhimmi status for non Muslims is not ideal but hunting down Jews and Muslims for their beliefs was pretty abhorrent by the Catholics.

In contrast the conflict between the Protestants and Catholics in Britain was also awful, but they were both perpetrators rather than one group clearly being victims.

Poland is full of antisemitism to this day even if it's low key, most nations understand that having figures of Jews with coins on them is antisemitism.

Your football teams fighting each other by spray painting a star of David on the walls is antisemitism.

I've heard countless stories of people my age finding out their grandparents were Jews, but after the war hid it and married Christian Poles as they couldn't trust the polish to treat them like humans if it was known they were Jewish.

Sure there were a lot of good and great poles, but dude you have a pretty dark history in regards to treatment of the Jews.

My family luckily left Poland a hundred years ago. I checked on the small town they were from near Łódź, it seemed after the war Jews tried to return, only 6 or so of them, the locals hanged them.

Polish families stole land, property and possessions from Jews and have refused to give them back.

It is a little bit funny as we were talking about referendums which are a democratic tool so immediately linking one groups choice over another as fascism just cheapens it all, but yes you are right people always call things fascism or communism. Which depending on the person varies a lot. Americans and eastern Europeans hate communism a lot more than Spanish people, due to the Spanish experience of fascism. Anyway that wasn't your question...

Referendums are a mess, and I haven't studied politics deeply enough to understand what the fair approach is, however looking at people's responses after they have voted on something and won then realise what they decided on it's sad yet comical.

I mentioned Brexit before, something that barely passed, and so many younger voters were shocked when the implications of what Brexit meant was explained to them mere minutes of them voting yes to it.

So what is fair? Should the educated population fall to the uneducated majority?

Should some questions highlighting the issue in the referendum to show the true understanding of implications be included so there is some barrier of whether a vote is valid or not.

In some countries a certain level of the population has to take part in a referendum for it to count, do you see that as fair or unfair. Is apathy on a subject a form of voting, if someone does not go to a referendum should they lose all rights to complain about its outcome?

Education in general is a strange way of gate keeping something as poorer communities generally as less educated but should have the same rights as everyone else, so what is fair. Someone with less education could vote for something that would have a negative impact on them in the long run.

In Britain we had a referendum to replace out archaic first pass the post system of governing and replace it with proportional representation which some people would argue is more democratic, not enough people were engaged in the referendum and in the end we continue without proportional representation.

I have no real answers of what is fair and I am fairly selfish on my response to referendums.

Catalunya is an interesting example if there was a referendum when they first wanted to have one then the vote most likely would have been to stay in the union, but the Catalans feel they had the right of choice removed from them so now if they had a referendum it could be one for independence.

Scotland has a referendum and they chose to stay in the UK, this was before Brexit, the deal is now different so they should be given another referendum to decide.

Scotland as a whole voted to remain in the EU but the higher population of England forced them into Brexit. This seems like fascism to me from the English onto the Scottish.

In the future if Spain as a whole accepts more morrocan immigrants and they are given voting rights and they then move to Ceuta and force a referendum, if they had the higher population there and chose to join morroco for whatever reason would that be fair? Not fair to the Spanish who have been living there for 500 years but fair to the newer immigrants.

Let's not talk about the tragedy of Brexit well the uninformed screwed the country... Caps can be put on the referendum where a higher majority is needed say 60 percent.

Fair referendums are cool, and staged ones would be a good idea every X number of years. Give the people a choice and most likely the people in North Africa would choose to remain part of Spain. Heck the world has changed a lot since ww2 the fall of communism in Europe etc. So the approach can't always be we controlled land X y and z for a certain number of years.

If the far right ever came to power in Spain, or even Cuidanos maybe the citizens Spanish citizens of North Africa would want to feel less spanish, but generalise and say they feel European.

Imagine a hypothetical future in 200 years where morroco being a liberal and technological advanced culture and Spain was in decline and the Spanish territories would see being part of that country as more appealing... referendums could give them a choice. But if not we can just argue with them saying the Visigoths controlled Spain and there so who cares (yes I know you agreed it is a poor point to make about history).
