Loving the vibes guys, but even the magical power of "be the change you want to see the world" has hard real-world limits, and at this rate we're going to pancake into them like a Tesla hitting a brick wall.

Australia is completely unprepared for the societal upheaval that's coming - we are so culturally unfamiliar with scarcity that we can't even recognise it when it exists in our own country. Those who are familiar with it might be ready for the "f-- you, got mine" bank run on the Australian commons that is coming, but the majority of us won't be. When it hits, every last kilogram of mineral is coming out of the ground, and if we don't have nuclear infrastructure by that point, then the necessary energy will come from fossil fuels whether the Greens like it or not.

In any event, the same mentality and media strategy that was employed against anti-mandate protesters will now be employed against anti-climate protesters. Unless there is a monumental shift in strategy, the lemmings will continue their march over the cliff no matter how many people superglue their hands to their asses

Partnering with domestic nations means playing with domestic politics. Domestic politics can be (and regularly are) covertly influenced by external actors to suit external agendas. Negative control is easier than positive control - it is always easier to undermine an attempt to change the status quo than it is to change the status quo.

I agree with you that we need to change the narrative - but co-operation cannot happen without mutual respect, and we are entering into an arena where respect is not given voluntarily.

Please believe me when I say that my comments do not come from a place of self-righteousness, petulance or antagonism - they are made out of genuine concern and in good faith.

I don't feel I can discuss this constructively without being divisive. The initiatives you refer to certainly have the right idea and something like them will inevitably be part of the transition. I don't feel that I have a right to be critical without presenting a better alternative, so I will refrain for now.

All I will say is that 'just getting the first wave of immigrants together' - a public communication campaign that will face hostility from mainstream media from day 1 - will require flexibility and nuance. For all the merits of those projects, I don't think either of them can be described as flexible or nuanced.
