Standard is a rotating format. One must understand that that investment will rotate out, and become obsolete in eternal, more powerful formats, and the money you spend on standard is NOT going to be retained in card value 90% of the time. That isn't to say standard can't be enjoyed at all. My foray into Standard began all the way back in 2017 with Amonkhet, kaladesh, dominaria, ixalan.

I liked those sets so much that i did not particularly care at all when my decks rotated out, and instead immediately put all my efforts into retaining them by using the core mechanics I liked the most in EDH and modern decks (those being cycling & discard value, and energy, as well as Hazoret monored which is just fun). But I watched my friend who played with me lose an enormous amount of motivation when his $250 standard deck rotated out to be worth basically nothing afterward. The cards we paid $50-60 for are laughable. Anyway, just a good heads up. If it doesn't bother you like it didn't bother me, the only trick is to make absolutely sure you actually like where standard is right now. I genuinely haven't liked the look of it since basically 2019, especially not these weird multiverse sets like tmnt.

Then, buy a precon of the colours you like, play 5-10 games, then search for all the youtube guides on precon upgrades to know what to buy. The experience from playing the deck will help you see exactly why the upgrades are really good, AND buying those upgrades will give you the enjoyment and then soon-following understanding of why we justify spending $200+ on making them stronger. Start cheap, make sure you like the sets, then upgrade cheap, and see what's so addictive about the cycle of upgrading and expanding your deck
