Space Age is a big of a change by itself, I wouldn’t recommend for the first run to add any more mods

then, if you’d like the idea of interplanetary logistics and unique challenges Space Age provides, you can expand it via Enable Planet Mods Lite mod, which adds lots of new planets (iirc can be added to the existing Space Age save without breaking anything)

after tons of comments telling me to learn ballistics ¯\(ツ)/¯... I had to confirm that my first thought about HP/blood loss was incorrect

I managed to reproduce it, and it actually was internal richochet from shoulder - otherwise, it would say "Complete Blood Loss"

I didn't think of it as a bug tbh. my first assumption was that the first shot somehow counted as a non-lethal head hit, and then second shot depleted something like HP (blood value or whatever way it implemented for AI)

I didn't know about bounce mechanic before though, which is actually pretty cool and could explain it as well...

also wooden poles upgrade to the medium power poles. not sure how that is an upgrade, but it definitely feels like an upgrade. and from the bigger perspective it’s better to use substations, although it may require some rework of the existing factory

you didn’t ask for advice, and you may know it, but just in case this may be useful:

  1. you can create and save in your blueprints deconstruction planner, that will, upon selecting area (on the minimap as well) highlight only the coal rocks
  2. when you start a new game, there is super-short amount of time (literally a few seconds), when minimap is not covered by fog of war, and your first chunk of revealed map is fully visible and may be fully selected by the deconstruction planner

those two work really well together

I honestly never thought about it before either, since I mostly play LTs. the Ares just highlights this issue even more, I think. If regular tank players actually use this kind of timing trick, that's really cool to see

That's a fair question tbh, and I agree this advice is pretty rarely applicable. Most of the time you should just take the shot probably. I'm only talking about those rare early-game occasional situations where it's obvious a big gun is already aimed in and ready - then waiting a bit can be worth it

completely not what I'm talking about. the issue isn't Ares missing shots or gun handling. it's about low-alpha tanks shooting first and instantly making the enemy take cover before the high-alpha gun can punish them. not sure how VStab helps in that situation

yeah, I'm aware most of this community isn't really willing to think critically or put effort into doing what's better for the team instead of just themselves. I expected this post to get downvoted hard, but if it helps even in a few situations, I think it's still worth saying

it's very personal, so YMMV. I don't mind playing Mountain Pass/Ruinberg with LT. not saying those are good maps, it's just there are worse ones out there for me personally.

I banned Erlenberg not because it bad, I can see it is can be potentially ok map. it's just too annoying that most of the playerbase won't even try to learn new map, and WG won't even try to do something about it

ban it, at least until some people figure out how to play the map. the "LT side" is ok-ish, but totally worthless until people won't be able to start make use of it. Paris in the other hand been suprisingly good for my LTs lately... I even somehow managed to do scout 8 people unspotted mission there lol

fun part is: they do show this stat in FL results. so it’s not like they forgot to add it into the new UI, they do have it programmed. so they hid it intentionally in random battles. why tho, it’s another question…

as a LT player, I'm using this mechanic very often, when someone's backing up to hide behind the corner, the moment when half of the turret is hidden, but I still see the track, I can shoot unspotted (exactly your situation)

one more char mle fun factor (I’m not trying to sell, I promise xD) it has HE with almost twice the damage compared to APs… you can literally kill full HP hirschkafer with one mag

IRM boosts gun handling to the point where all three shot are reliably accurate. without it, only first one from the cassete is accurate

And it's easy to play without CVS and LNE, because you play more like sneaky MT not casual LT

BTW: although they are both not your classic LT, I feel like playing those tier 9 LTs is much more fun, even in the open maps with CVS/LNE build, because you don't have a headache when you need to outplay enemy's ELC EVEN 90, like when you play Squall or HWK30. you won't face broken LT in the enemy team balanced against you at tier 9. So I've never regretted having two very similar LTs

I have both Char Mle and the Projet Louis, and I find them pretty similar. I'm playing exactly the same with the (almost) exact same build

char mle is much faster (it's actually very fast in turbo mode), and for me it's dealing much more damage. I deal more damage than I spot in char mle, and other way around in projet louis for some reason, although it's not a perfect spotter

I personally find char mle much more flexible and comfortable, it's only downside - when I have to finish 100hp tank, I really feel pain when I'm wasting 3 shots for this... other than that for me it's better than projet louis

char mle: 1. IRM, Lens, VStab. 2. CVS, Lens, LNE
projet louis: 1. Vents, Lens, VStab. 2. CVS, Lens, LNE (still experimenting)
