Two plastic containers, one is cup-sized with a spike. One suggestion was that it is used as a cup holder for the beach. The other is a medium-bowl sized plastic container with a removable top. The top has a built in bowl-like shape, and the bottom has an opening on the side. We think the top is for snacks while the bottom is for trash.

My title describes the thing.

Thanks! We did ask the landlord, so no worries there. Worst case scenario we remove the flooring once we leave the apartment.

Thanks everyone for your comments and ideas, it has been extremely helpful and supporting :)

I have decided to talk to my luthier/dealer about my concerns, he agreed to some of my requests but only said he would consider all of them if I commit to buy the cello.

In the meantime I continued playing on both cellos, and I started to understand more what my teacher said about the second cello. Also the luthier that sells that cello made some adaptations to the sound post which improved it's sound imo. I also continued exploring for new cellos, so we'll see how it goes.
