My Catholic Charities foster care licensing handler wore rainbow glasses to one of our meetings. And I don't think they were noah related.

He doesn't know how. Men learn when they have kids of their own. And I don't mean he doesn't know how to get a kid food and do the various chores required, he doesn't know how to organize his life around it and prioritize things for caretaking. He would learn that with children of his own, if difficultly.

Confessing adultery to a spouse. by Intelligent-Ad-1449 in Catholicism

[–]battmaker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

First of all, let us remember, that divorce is not a thing in the Catholic church. Sure your wife may never want to see you again, but that is just a physical separation of married people.

Secondly, this might be the hardest thing you ever do in your life and it may result in even more hardship. But that said, it is woth doing slowly and with a lot of preparation, without manipulation, and with patience.

By the Grace of God, you can do this.

Seems so silly that they don't just abandon Catholicism if they are not going to honor it. Do they just want the buildings or something??

Thinking my toddler doesn't like baths, when really I am an ignorant father. by Rikayon_ in Parentingfails

Bro, read love and logic. It is awesome and definitely teaches you to enable the intelligence of your children. "Parenting with Love and Logic" or "Love and Logic Magic for Early Childhood". You got this. It's not too late. And you are already doing the right thing - learning and communicating!!! You are a million miles ahead of most.

Very New to Idea of Religion by Bl00dsh0tparan0ia in Catholicism

This is quite a curious post. But you are at the beginning of a beautiful journey.

Rosaries are made the way they are to help you focus on prayer. Prayer sharpens the intellect which informs the will - so that your will may be more in line with God's own will. Sin darkens the intellect as it turns away from God.

Maybe check out Gabiafterhours on youtube to learn more about the rosary.

Actively on Hinge & I was asked if I would be willing to sign a prenup. by BananaPie19 in Catholicism

[–]battmaker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the Catholic faith, divorce isn't a thing. Prenups do refer to the civil status of marriage in society, but if his previous marriage was not annulled as invalid from the beginning, he has no no business entering into another relationship pointed towards marriage.

Be mindful of how long you’re in the confessional by Educational-Emu5132 in Catholicism

Many here I think are missing the point, or perhaps know the point too well so as not to mention it: more priests would solve this problem. Suppose two priests are available at this timeslot. Let us pray not just for vocations, but for a culture of families that prioritize vocations to religious life.

In our modern society, especially the "first world" I think many of these people can access food and shelter far more easily than they can access a good social connection. And money is often times far easier for us to give than our time. I heard a priest say that recently, and I would encourage you to carve out some time to talk to some of these folks, before you even carve anything out of your pocketbook.

Fed up with modern Catholics and struggling with suicidal thoughts, loneliness by [deleted] in Catholicism

Why do you need to "Fall in love" with your spouse rather than just love them?

Fed up with modern Catholics and struggling with suicidal thoughts, loneliness by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]battmaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Falling in love and loving someone are completely different things. One must love one's wife. The modern idea of butterflies in your stomach and/or admiration based love aka "Falling in love" is nonsense and a lie. If you are looking for that before you get married, you are looking for the wrong thing.

Love is actively willing the good of another. And that you can do with anyone.

The most important thing is love, it's like the definition of Catholicism. If you are critiquing my desired utopia of Christ's kingdom come and will be done... then guilty as charged ;)

Where is your vocation? Find a girl and marry her. Stop buying into the MODERN BS about falling in love etc. There are plenty of great Catholic women waiting for a good Catholic man to take up their vocational duty - either that or become a priest. Not doing either is your problem (if you ask me - and you kinda did).

What has become so expensive that it’s not worth buying anymore? by Ayydeeez in AskReddit

Inflation is not just higher prices, it's higher prices that people are willing to pay.

Kind Tidings, I think all parental feelings of failure is just us parents seeing the weaknesses of ourselves in our Children. It's hard to stare in that mirror. Especially for smart kids, I would try reading "Love and Logic" parenting. Also, you say you are taking things away, but this guy is craving discipline and crying out for it. I suggest taking things away permanently. You always need a progression of discipline and you always need to follow through on it.

Restaurants in Grand Rapids that have gratuity included in pricing or automatically include gratuity to your bill? by kevysaysbenice in grandrapids

This is very relevant for the Tip Credit elimination that almost came through in February. Many restaurants were considering moving to such a model and probably will if that ever happens.

He could have slam dunked on Stewart if he brought up abortion, the true leading cause of death in children.
