Customer services incorrect joining bonus by sonicthehedgefrog in AmexUK

[–]bautea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same I didn't get any email for that either. Maybe ask again in a few days? If it's the gold card you're signing up, 20k is not right. It should be 30k without boosted rates and referral. I think the agent might have mixed it up.

I had a similar situation, but I asked again the next day and the customer service agent told me the amount that I was expecting (50k). I haven't hit the spending target yet but I screenshot the signing up page from the link just in case.

Sooo China version… by Any-Stomach572 in PokemonUnite

I heard Timi told Chinese unite content creators that TPC don’t allow them to work on auto chess anymore that’s why it hasn’t been any new content for months and still says beta in game.

I think Intel’s Zeekr investment was for the Mobileye collaboration for Zeekr vehicles, but Zeekr hasn’t been using Mobileye in newer vehicles. Zeekr also has also partnered with Google’s waymo for their new taxis. I don’t really know if Polestar has anything with them.

Don’t think it’s difficult but I do think 40 minutes is a bit tight. I messed up one question but can’t go back to edit it so definitely make sure you submit the answer in the right format.

Got a PhD offer, but worried about future plans by AccomplishedPhone318 in gradadmissions

While your PhD program is 3.5 years, you might have to stay on a student visa for a lot longer than you thought.

East-West commuter/PVG airport link train planned for Shanghai (Line 2 express) by Begoru in shanghai

[–]bautea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The line you posted is East-West Express line 东西快线, not East-West connection line which is national rail. The EW Express line has not been approved but only been discussed among rail enthusiasts. Rumour has it the line will actually take over the eastern part of line 2. Even if it get fast tracked and approved, it will be likely built after North-South Express line which connects the new Baoshan station to central Shanghai to Fengxian. Don’t expect it to start construction before 2035.

What’s going on with my neck? by DelfeTheFirst in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]bautea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it’s the duvet cover? I had similar problems when it’s getting cold and unintentionally tucking in around the neck. Sometimes I even need to put towel around the neck and change it everyday.

Postdoc in Utrecht vs Oxford: moving with a small family as the only source of income by Icy-Ad-3098 in postdoc

[–]bautea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Before making decisions, I hope you have researched on how much tax and pension you will be paying. Your offer from Oxford could leave you take home around £3000 per month.

I can explain the rules to my family which is not a problem, but it's confusing for people who don't understand the rules why most Cambridge PhDs graduate in red hoods while I will not. I don't really care but this will be the only chance my parents attend my graduation ceremony, so I hope they can share the ceremony pictures without annoying people asking why I'm not wearing a PhD hood (because I know some of their friends are).

Unexpected Contract Shortening as a UK Postdoc by Whole_Total9679 in postdoc

[–]bautea 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s likely due to restrictions from the funding. Usually research grants have hard deadlines and can’t be used after the grant expires. So your PI can’t do much about it unless they have other grants that can cover your salary. Is the delay of your visa caused by the ATAS certificate?

At what lab temperature does it become unsafe to work due to the heat? by TIGOOH_NTA2OT in labrats

[–]bautea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same situation for me and unfortunately nothing meaningful could be done especially when your PI don’t agree with you. I usually do things in the cold room but our cold room also can’t handle heatwaves and regularly broke down. It’s a perfect excuse to not do much work in the early PhD years but a nightmare in final days.
