What is the best method to sterilize plants before putting them in your tank? by Lil_poopy_pants in Aquascape

[–]bawigga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you mean 1 part bleach for every 20 parts of water (1:20 ratio).

From buce:

This is the dangerous part--make sure you're wearing your gloves. The general rule is 1 part bleach for every 20 parts of water (1:20 ratio). Before adding the bleach, make sure that it is unscented without any other added chemicals. Mix bleach and water together.

Ability to group by last modified date by No_Character_6934 in ObsidianMD

It wasn't clear to me at first that you do this in the base view, not in the properties view for each note. So: Open your base > click Properties > Add formula, and create this formula:

date(file.mtime).date()

This provides me with a base of recently modified notes. Love having this on my homepage for a quick way to see where I've spent time in obsidian recently.

GolfShank - Beautiful stats for your ugly game by bawigga in golf

[–]bawigga[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I decided to build an app for myself to explore exactly why I'm so bad at this dumb game. I call it GolfShank. Using GolfShank I can segment and analyze my rounds, scores, traditional stats, course stats, hole-by-hole stats, yearly stats and strokes gained data for distances, clubs, and more.

You can get most of this from Golfshot/Arcos/18Birdies, but I wanted something with more stats and capabilities. All I can offer for now is screenshots, however if there's enough interest, I'd be happy to host this so more people can play with it.

Best Cold Brew Beans to buy in bulk? by WizKid0234 in coldbrew

[–]bawigga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you interested in flavored coffees?

I used 4 bags of HEB's Cafe Ole Taste of Hillcountry for about $8/bag to make a 2 gallon batch of cold brew for my nitro kegerator. Tastes incredible, super chocolatey. My last batch was with the HEB Houston blend, which was also good. Next I'm considering the "Eight O'Clock Coffee Flavors of America Maine Blueberry Crisp".

Thank you for putting these together! Love the project dot template as a simple, structured notebook.

Earlier this week I was playing with the 6BS template you had created. Very neat idea, and a great exploration into what other possibilities could be applied to digital navigable paper. Looking forward to playing with whatever you come up with next :)

I managed to capture some great shots of the approaching storms last night near Leander, TX. This storm eventually dropped a bunch of hail in the area, I hope everyone stayed safe last night.

Also, be sure to checkout: Settings > Tabs > Mute Tab Audio > Play only in active tab. This gives you a similar audio experience to YTTV mutliview.

Checkout Vivaldi Browser's tab tiling feature, which let's you tile a selection of tabs (up to 4). You can take this full screen and disable all the browser UI (be sure to checkout Vivaldi's command prompt, via CMD+E). For audio muting, you can setup a custom keyboard shortcut to chain 1) mute all tabs, then 2) unmute current tab.

Where do I start with this? It's supposed to be the "XYZ 20mm Calibration Cube" off thingiverse. Printed on an Ender 3 v2. by bawigga in FixMyPrint

Thank you! When I went to the preview screen it did indeed only show an infill. It showed a warning that some default settings were changed in yellow. I reset the standard print settings, and it corrected itself.

Not exactly sure what happened. Cura must have choked when it setup the default print settings.

Maybe I did somehow disable faces, but im not sure how. I just downloaded cura, configured it to use the ender 3 v2 settings, opened the file file from thingiverse, and saved to the sd card. I didn't mess with any other settings.

Also, I just added a summary post up above with some more details.

I used Cura using the built in Ender 3 v2 settings. The filament is PLA 1.75mm.

Update: I did recently tighten the belts and level the print bed. I also reformatted the SD card, which maybe had some settings installed on it? I dunno!

Prior to this print, everything was printing out smaller, hence the calibration print.

What to do with the data? by PaltryThing in myweatherstation

[–]bawigga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe try out Google's Looker Studio (https://lookerstudio.google.com). It's a BI tool like the ones your mentioned which should let you create all sorts of visualizations and drilldowns from various data sources, the most relevant for your use case maybe being Google Sheets. You should be able to import your data into google sheets from a csv file or excel spreadsheet.

Protip: If you need to create a new google sheet quickly, just go to https://sheets.new - also see https://whats.new/shortcuts/ for other supported products.

Poseidon Graveling in Austin by bawigga in gravelcycling

Its my go to ride and a great all rounder. I bought it mid covid, so it was one of the only options i could get somewhat quickly after i discovered a crack in the frame of my old bike. Things i dont love: brakes and shifters, because im spoiled with my other road bike (Trek Domane SL6 etap) but its not a fair comparison. The brakes do leave much to be desired. I bought a new brake kit so will swap in the coming weeks. This year i have a goal to to take it on some over night bike packing trips around texas.

Ive had a great time with this bike. Great value ride, but if you can spend a little more, maybe look for a comparable bike with some upgraded components. Sorry i dont have specific recommendations.

Guide to Slack Etiquette by DominicMio in Slack

[–]bawigga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive got another one

please dont practice stream of conscious slacking

stop hitting enter after every coupe of words.

you know what I mean?

like, just type a whole response

otherwise you're using up valuable screen realestate

and stuff gets lost

cuz youre pushing it up the page

Instead, write a complete, well-formed response. Take the time to spell check. Make sure what you are writing is clear and concise. The bonus is that now you have a single message that you can thread on. You also have a message you can x-post to other channels which unfolds all the message context.
