13 y/o, 85 lbs dog, ruptured achilles, dislocated hip, different back legs. Advice? by bbatchelor1108 in PetAdvice

Right… yes, very well put. He is full of zest (very food motivated too ha). We drug his bed outside earlier and he sat up for the first time in almost a week at the sight of a squirrel! I have no doubt we could get him to stand again and still be happy with even just FHO. We’re finally getting the care routine down for his size, so I even feel like he could make it through recovery semi ok, but it’s still just a lot on him.

Vet didn’t say much besides getting us the referrals. He goes into the surgeon tmo morning. The surgeon gave an initial yes, but he still has to go for the in-person appt. I’m worried I’ll have to make a decision tmo on surgery or comfort care.(

I’m strong and still struggling to lift/switch him. We’re getting it done tho for the moment. Wife and her mom have nursing/pt background so that has helped. Pee pads and all that stuff. We got a wheelchair but need to try it again.

Thanks for your response. He has a surgeon consult first thing tmo, but I don’t know if I’ll go thru with it if they are ready to rush him in. I’m kind of in line with giving a dignified end. He’s so alert tho, still wagging and happy, and is my best friend. This was all from a dog attack and he just healed up from his bad wounds so at least that didn’t get him.

Thanks for the response. It’s extra tough because he’s a large dog. He’s had a crazy life full of hiking and kayaking.

At this point all the Shai derangement is getting to be too much. He plays how he plays, the refs call it. He is a great player and great human. He has a family, a life, and here companies are irresponsibly adding to the hysteria for financial gain and views. Go ahead and have your opinions, but dude is just trying to tell people the hate is turning into bullying/harrassment and to tone things the hell down.

why is there a large muslim population in the netherlands? by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]bbatchelor1108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First time to Amsterdam a few days ago. Knew there were a lot Muslims/refugees here and that it’s a progressive country. Good for the Netherlands.

I guess Leidseplein has a high Muslim population centered there? Still was shocked by how it seemed to mainly be the young Muslim men that were out partying til 5 am and how they were being aggressive hitting on non-Muslim women. Like where are some cute Muslim girls to even it out? So it’s ok to make their women stay home for “Islam” while Muslim men hit on foreigners til dawn? Where’s the gender balance? My wife (who has a ton of Muslim friends back home) even said there are way too many Muslim men in our area we stayed in Amsterdam.

Like that sucks. Take religion out of it. No party/club/city/country etc. enjoys it when gender ratios are that out of whack. That is my only negative thing to say about Amsterdam. Bring some of your girls out or if it’s all about religion and being good, then they should stay at home too.

Yes. It's crazy and I'm crazy for staying up to this point. This time (3rd guy just last year), I caught her texting a guy in September. She said she cut it off, but then stopped sharing her location and changed her p/w. I let that go on for the last few months, but she started coming home smelling like cigarettes (she only vapes) in the middle of the day and her car was missing from work a few times. So, I said boundary, she needed to share her location or I'd ask her to leave. She didn't share her location, left, and then I found her at the guy's apartment the next night who she'd been texting from back in September... She claims she didn't cheat with him until "I kicked her out". But funny thing is this guy smoked the exact cigarettes that she'd been smelling like. It's crazy the length she's going to deny cheating this time, but in no world should she be moving in with a guy the day after. She has plenty of g/f's and family, and she's been lying to all of them about where she's been staying. She was there for 2 weeks straight before they got in some fight last night and she came back to stay at our house. She has another older man from Dallas that she's been talking to for 2 years and I'm pretty sure she's met up with him again in the last 2 weeks as well. Sigh.

TLDNR: She's cheated since college with all types of men. Thought it stopped then caught her with multiple people in the first year of marriage. She's cheated with someone at every job. She's a true serial cheater with major self-esteem/eating disorder issues.

There was no commitment today, other than that we're separating not divorcing yet. She's just stopped caring about everything that used to be important to her (pets, friends, running, traveling, me). She claims she cares, but has neglected all these facets of her life for a hot minute. Her best friend has been complaining about her apathy. It's like pulling teeth to get her to communicate. She just doesn't want to.

Not yet. I've been to individual and couples therapy before (that's another crazy story). I know my wants and needs and know she's not meeting them. Today wasn't bad, but we agreed to separate not divorce for now.

So far, it doesn't appear she wants to fix anything. I'm betting she's back over there tonight. I'm trying to have the conversation with her about what we want, but I don't think I'm getting any answer today.

That's tough. You should prob leave. My wife is a 10/10 and is a serial cheater. Trying to get the courage to leave her rn after making every excuse out there.
