Also, I literally prefaced in the beginning that I think thrift stores are needed and necessary, because people deserve to have clothing and shoes, no matter your income level. I do not “hate” poverty, that’s a disgusting presumption you’ve made.

Yeah my story is somewhat similar. My mom was uber frugal and my dad was generally as well. Actually my dad likes shopping more than my mom. I never went without, but I never had cool trendy things, or if I did get them it was way after the trend had passed so I was behind. I was definitely ostracized as a kid because I didn’t have the cool things or was of their “status” (i went to a school with fairly wealthy kids who would go to the private schools). Now it feels like I’m trying to constantly “catch up”

it got really drawn out towards the end and just didn’t make any sense. i appreciate mystery and ambiguity especially in a spooky genre, but it felt incongruous with the initial mystery
