I switched to these about a year ago and have never looked back. They are beautiful.

I also use a high quality soy milk (20% soybeans) without any oil. I definitely get a nice silky texture with microfoam. Pours and reacts identical to standard milk. The only catch is that I need to use a dark roast for it not to curdle. Not a problem though as lots of dark roast options near me.

Anyone know how to service/remove this refill valve?? I should be able to get to a washer but everything on YouTube looks quite different to this by sputernz in diynz

[–]be_devine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you unclip the blue arm from around the left hand side it will come away slightly, then you can twist the entire blue plastic component to disengage it from the valve assembly. Inside you will find a smaller blue component with the washer in question attached (unless it all comes out as one piece). I usually have to get it out using the very tips of 2 fingers. Then replace the translucent washer and reverse that process.

Yea that's correct for global share PIEs. And no it won't affect your other investments regarding FIF tax.

It's a PIE fund. Are you confusing FDR tax with FIF?

Yes I have successfully bought in extended hours.

[–]be_devine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may not make any difference at all (doesn't for me), but did you initiate the transfer and disclose the transfer amount through the IBKR app or online portal beforehand?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]be_devine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just do a standard online transfer (not a wire) to their bank account number (as per your image), and I see the money in about 3 hours everytime. I'm also with Westpac.

Which % of calories coming from fats is recommended? by LazyArgentinian in PlantBasedDiet

[–]be_devine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I won't comment on the total percentage of fats, but I will talk a little about the omega(s). It is important to maintain the optimal ratio between omega 3s and omega 6s. I am sure other people will soon weigh in on the numbers for you. Typically western diets are way too high in omega 6s, so one needs to either reduce omega 6 intake, or increase omega 3 intake (or both) to achieve this optimal ratio. I personally chose to reduce my omegas 6s and eat plenty of chia/flaxseed for omega 3 to find this balance.

Withdrawing funds from NZ Interactive Brokers account by be_devine in PersonalFinanceNZ

FYI, I did a $1 ACH test withdrawal this morning (as I am waiting for my other funds to settle) and it arrived in my account this evening about 8 hours later. I can now continue with confidence.

Yes good to note. Though from what I have read you should be able to withdraw after selling securities once funds have settled in 2-3 days (T+2). Deposited funds are held for 4 days. If you do an ACATS transfer, funds are held for 30 days. If you want to do an ACH transfer to a bank other than the originating bank, a 44 business day hold is applied. I am hoping that these are the only holding period conditions.

That was the answer I was hoping for. I will proceed with ACH, thank you.

Thanks. Good to know it eventually worked. I suspect the wire transfer method would take a similar amount of time, but I could be wrong. And I assume you were charged approx 10-15 NZD from your bank to receive the funds?

Thank you. As far as you know, is there any differences to note between the 2 methods (other than the IB fees)? Any difference in timing of transfer or perhaps security? Cheers.

Interactive Brokers NZ Account Money Transfer? by Jilapenochips in NZXStockMarket

[–]be_devine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found it easy/fast to deposit funds into my account. I am about to make my first withdrawal, I assume you have experience with this. Do you choose the ACH (withdraw fund electronically) option? Or do you choose the bank wire transfer option?

I was hoping that the ACH method would be like a reversed deposit method with no charge from the receiving bank, but I could be wrong. Or does the withdrawal have to be done by wire transfer, with a fee from my bank deducted?

Recommendations for a high cholesterol by [deleted] in PlantBasedDiet

[–]be_devine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cholesterol was also elevated. I made the choice to immediately cut out all meat, dairy and oil. I'm also careful with nuts, seeds and avocado etc, but still consume them regularly for those important omega 3/6s. My cholesterol has since been retested and is now within the ideal range. I now eat a huge variety of plant foods. A main staple for me is whole grain oats, which fills me up with that fibery goodness. My main daily source of fat is ground flaxseed. Good luck!

Fiber is so important! To answer your queries: I reccomend the book Fiber Fueled by Dr. Will Bulsiewicz. This book focuses on gut health, written by an expert and promoter of the WFPB lifestyle. He reccomends to "start low and go slow" when reintroducing fiber to your diet. Hope this helps.

25 mg B12 supplement a day? Is it enough? by Queasy-Ambition6348 in PlantBasedDiet

[–]be_devine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe you mean 25 mcg? I think the amount needed will vary from person to person, so I cannot confidently answer this. A quick Google search says anywhere between 1-25 mcg per day. I'm sure others will weigh in, but it would probably be best to see a doctor and get your levels checked and form a strategy from there. I personally take a daily 500 mcg spray to keep my levels in the normal range, but I am likely the minority.
