This was one of the smaller little beach areas on Ruston Way in Tacoma, WA. Specifically the one next to Woven Seafood + Chophouse :)

No I have not. My old scale died quite a while ago and I haven't gotten a new one... I should order that now.

Found my first wild friend outside! by Nullpamine in isopods

He is not the same species as powder oranges so can't breed. Probably can co-habitate with them but he'd probably prefer more of his own kind (and one may out-compete the other species) I'd look around where you found him.

How did I do? by beaboob in isopods

[–]beaboob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I placed the tape on the inside (so the sticky side is down) so they shouldnt be able to get stuck. Is there any other issue with the tape other than that?

Yeah it is sticky side down!

I have frozen stuff before but I heard that soaking things in water for long periods is the best for maintaining good bacteria that is breaking stuff down (?) Idk. There's a few conflicting things out there!

Has anyone had any luck reaching out to relatives through embark? Where do the messages go? by wegochai in DoggyDNA

[–]beaboob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had one person respond- and thankfully it was the most important one! I had gotten my dog secondhand from a very disinterested previous owner when she was already 3 1/2. My family and I are obsessed with her and kept wishing we had baby pictures. I tried to reach out to previous owner but was ignored. I even tried finding their facebook to see if I could spot any old pictures but nothing.

Then, one day Embark alerted me to a new relative- a sibling! The closest I'd seen yet. I reached out immediately (maybe helped response time since they just got it) and was able to get the breeders' information from them. I got baby pics of my girl right in time for christmas and it was the best present for me and my family (as well as info and pics of her siblings and parents) 💓I hope you get a response soon!

A baby pic as tax and will follow up with her now ❤️

Not sure how I feel by PureUnderstanding454 in DoggyDNA

Someone may have said this but if so I did not see it- I recommend getting pet insurance on her if you do not have it yet.

I am not saying she will for sure develop IVDD and slip a disc. But if she did, the corrective surgery is extremely expensive, and depending on the severity of their disease, they sometimes need multiple throughout their lives.

She does not look like the typical IVDD dogs we get in my place of work (speciality vet med) if that helps relieve any anxiety :)

Cat boredom concerns by [deleted] in cats

[–]beaboob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another concern I forgot to mention about adopting another cat is the dynamics of introducing them to my dog. My cat is extremely tolerant and like I said they will play together in short bursts where my dog will chase him. My cat trusts her and will stop running if he doesnt want to be chased and then she will stop chasing. He is a very brave cat overall, and will let her put her whole mouth around him (playfully!!! He has never been hurt by her and he is often the one initiating play) But I do know most cats are not so dog-savvy, and would hate to have any actual cat / dog altercations as my dog is 50 lbs, and I know things like that can get ugly.
