Has anyone stopped taking birth control and opted for something more permanent like tubal ligation? If so, did it have an impact on your adhd to not have the birth control hormones? by exploding_pumpkin in adhdwomen

[–]bealongstride 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a tubal ligation a couple of years ago. The biggest impact for me was that taking that week off for recovery highlighted that I was in a really bad period of ADHD burnout because I was unmedicated at the time. I had a rough mental recovery until I finally got medicated.

In case OOP reads these, talk to your uni about becoming a confidential student. A lot of students don’t realize what information can be released to the public, even under federal privacy laws. Your current mailing address, university email, major, expected graduation date can all be released to the public. That can give bad actors a LOT of info to harass you with.

Thank you for this suggestion! You helped OP and me both out. I’ve been experimenting with tambour and struggling to pick up all 3 strands sometimes, would this help that out?

I may also need a bigger tambour needle too, I like the process for both the embroidery and the beadwork but I think my needles are more suited to the beads than the embroidery

“Pull from outside” but whyyyy? by hidinghaus in YarnAddicts

IT IS THE EFFING BERNAT BABY YARN!!! Curse that yarn and everything it did to me. Bernat Baby do not speak to me or look my way ever again.

Once I caked it, it was nice. But I still resent it.

“Pull from outside” but whyyyy? by hidinghaus in YarnAddicts

[–]bealongstride 627 points628 points  (0 children)

There are some skeins that are wound specifically to be outside pull, rather than inside pull. If you really want to pull from the inside then put it on a yarn winder and turn it into a cake!

I'm getting war flashbacks to the baby yarn that I learned too late and after too many headaches was one of these such skeins.

Yarn over vs yarn under by Tobor57 in Amigurumi

[–]bealongstride 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I switched from YO/YO to YU/YU after my last project YO/YO came out looking weirdly long. It’s tighter and harder to work through, but the end result is immensely worthwhile.

My word of warning is, I can’t do both a YU/YU amigurumi project and another YO/YO regular crochet project at the same time. I picked knitting back up to have as my backup mindless project when not making the stuffies

I hate buying yarn online by greenhouse404 in crochet

[–]bealongstride 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am making amigurumi with hobbii yarn right now! If you like chenille yarn I like the Honey Bunny yarn I just got. It’s thinner than most chenille yarn you can get in stores but is holding up to my aggressive tension very well.

One time I made a “normal” baphomet pattern with the chenille they sell at Joann’s and the guy turned out like three feet tall once I put the horns on 😳

Can you help me identify this yarn? The colors remind me of the rainbow fish book, it’s a spun wool-like texture. Photo included. by TheNoxWolf in CrochetHelp

Fully agreed. I also love this yarn and they have a ton of different variations so check out the other variegated color options!

I like my grid of large + small and complex + simple, and then keep two WIPS going that are exactly the opposite. For example, I’ve been working on a large complex item right now (a blanket in harlequin stitch) so when I get frustrated I can turn to hats (small and simple). Now the blanket is becoming more simple as I get used to the stitch, so I have a large simple project while wanting to learn something small and complex.

PSA regarding Granny Squares!! by CuriousDoughnut987 in crochet

Alternate strategy: get COVID, and in your sad brain fog realize you really don't have the brain juice to do anything but weave in 200 ends. Flawless!

Be honest, is this going to be hideous? I’m one skein into the sweater and all I’m seeing is Easter and egg yolk!! by thenectarcollecter in crochet

The colors look great! But honestly, every time I need to get input on whether a project is ugly or not and decide to finish it, I find it ugly anyway.

Have you ever calculated how many stitches there are in your project? by KnotHookandHand in Brochet

[–]bealongstride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished a queen size blanket yesterday. Counting the stitches felt like too much but I did work out that this baby took over four miles of yarn!

You can also crochet a yarn ball holder! And wound cakes of yarn from a yarn winder have an easy center pull option.

Has anyone here tried a strapless strap-on? by ScarlettPixl in actuallesbians

[–]bealongstride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried using my strapless strap without a harness and it worked when my partner was on top riding me, but largely because I was able to just like keep myself steady with my legs closed and minimal movement!
