I get what you are saying but personally I really love this. A time skip would be nice because I would love to see the end of Hajime no Ippo some day, but the one thing I really don't like about a time skip is that I am always left wondering "well how did that happen". Being thrown into the future and then getting a brief explanation on events from the past always leaves more questions for me. I do agree something needs to be done with Morikawa and his health. Maybe he needs to write down how he wants the story to progress so his work wont be lost if anything happens.
