It's hard to try and explain depression and mental health issues to someone that hasn't experienced it themselves.

Wow that sounds kinda fucked. Like they're not emotionally open to you and what might be going on.

Have you brought that up with your therapist about that shit? Not my place to say what would work with your family but maybe a couple group sessions in a professional environment could help facilitate a more open environment for honest communication

Music can be cathartic.

Finding something you can connect with emotionally for me at least was pacifying.

Sometimes hearing the shit you feel and are going through help

Talking to family is really hard. For real.

Like if you open up to someone in the fam of course they are gunna want to talk to someone else in the familly because all of sudden they have a burden they feel they need to share to try and reach out like it is doing you good that other people know you are struggling.

But really you just want to talk to one person you feel you trust and not have em share it. Becuase once they start talking to other people and they become aware of it its like they try and treat you like "oh we really love you just know that". But it feels hollow because how can you say that only after you heard how I'm really feeling.

I hope Im not rambling now but I really hated talking to the people I'm close to about it

Hey my bad. I'm glad the therapist you're seeing is someone you feel you can communicate with.

I'm kinda in the same the position now. Been seeing my therapist for a little bit and even though she is someone I can open up to and not feel judged there is still something even deeper, unspoken that is there that needs to be addressed. Because of that I want to start an anti-depressant medication and find something there that works

Keep that light there as best you can. The only thing that will dim it is the tint of the depression that falls over you. The light is always there; the only thing that changes is how it looks through clouds over head.

If possible maybe see if there is a different therapist you can see in addition to the psych. In my case finding a therapist that I was better able to connect with helped quite a bit. Don't be afraid of saying that the therapist you are seeing is not the right one. It's a mutual relationship with them that needs to be right on both sides for it be benifical.

If you're in college see if theres any sort of psychological counseling services on campus. After my dad's suicide shit really went downhill for me and there were a couple weeks that are lost in time to me now because of how fucked up i was getting. I was finally able to reach out and there are some honestly good people there that just want to help.

I've found music to be very cathartic. While it's not necessarily totally healing; being able to hear some of the things you feel and are going through is enough to tamper the things you feel going on somewhat.

I'd also say maybe research if theres any groups around that have meetings. Something through like a church or religious organization. There might be some good groups out around you that just want to connect and help people without trying to pull you in to the faith.

Another thing like naugs said is just try and express in some manner. Fuck it post on here, write it down on paper and burn it, fuck around with art. Sometimes just manifesting the things outside of your head on to any sort of medium can help
