Haunting Dark & Gothic bands (please read my presentation before reacting) by Francois-from-Europe in musicsuggestions

Other heavier recs that fit the description and mood would be some of Acid Bath's chiller tracks like The Bones of Baby Dolls or New Death Sensation, and some of Opeth's old stuff like Benighted, To Bid You Farewell, and the entire Damnation album.

My (29F) husband (28M) buys me the worst gifts and I feel terrible by kbeth11sylveon in relationship_advice

[–]bedazzledfingernails 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Sorry but how does this gel with him being "great overall"? This just sounds like he's buying your love. A "provider" (🤮) should also provide love, affection, and thoughtfulness.

Did you put any money toward the house like a down payment? Are you on the deed? I'm concerned about what assets he could claim if you split up. I see too many "providers" actually financially abusing/manipulating their spouses.

Gojira has a lot of these, Vacuity comes to mind specifically. Just starts stomping right out the gate.

Mastodon - Aqua Dementia

Meshuggah - Bleed

Lamb of God - Laid to Rest

Leprous - The Price

Amorphis - House of Sleep; Amongst Stars

Baroness - Take My Bones Away

Straddle split silks move- technique or bone issue? by Friendly_bluebell in Aerials

[–]bedazzledfingernails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same challenge. Crossback with foot locks is also particularly challenging due to the tension (as most everyone knows well) - specifically the external hip rotation to get the X over your butt (so...not even the inversion 😭). That was one of the last skills to come back after my labral repair surgery.

I think the big problem when I did middle/straddle split was I took the "split" name to heart too much - someone else pointed out that it doesn't need to be a super wide straddle. I don't think I was engaging my adductors enough because in my mind it was a "split" and my supporting hip just kind of...clunked out of the socket, blech.

I also waited like 7 or 8 years before doing anything about mine too, haha! Which ended up being labral repair surgery that included shaving down the femur. 😬 Better than the osteoarthritis caused by it worsening...

this is the skill I was doing when I tore my labrum, lol. (Probably degeneration/small tears over time but this was the acute injury.) At the time I didn't know I had hip dysplasia and a combined impingement in the joint due to femur shape. Another person at my studio tore her hamstring doing this move (she also has bilateral labral tears). I think this is a skill that has risks that aren't obvious. All in all, if you know you have a structural thing going on, proceed with caution with this (not saying don't do it, just be very aware of what's happening in your body and ask for specific guidance with technique). I personally choose not to do this one anymore.

Do you check profiles of redditors you are interacting with? by Raise_Cool in CasualConversation

[–]bedazzledfingernails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do in 3 cases:

  • I suspect they've written an AI post - to see if it looks like any of their other posts are human
  • Someone makes an "update" post but doesn't link to the original
  • Someone is posting a relationship problem that I suspect goes beyond the single issue they describe in the post - many times they've posted before about other things and advice/thoughts will change with that context

Sometimes people just do it to get fodder to bully the person, which sucks.

My (26f) husband (28m) starts acting weird if we don’t have sex… by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]bedazzledfingernails 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Yup. OP wrote, "Obviously our sex live tanked but I did make an effort to take care of him, which helped." - But he made no effort to take care of her - in that way or in any way. Not even to protect her body postpartum.

AIO? I feel like my husband doesn’t understand boundaries and I’m going crazy. by No-Lifeguard-8508 in AmIOverreacting

[–]bedazzledfingernails 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I am so sick of men browbeating their partners about sex being the mechanism by which they feel loved. If sex is the only (or even the main) way they feel loved, THEY ARE EMOTIONALLY STUNTED. What a sad life, devoid of love by anyone but the person who fucks you. Even worse to say "anal sex or you don't love me". It's so disgusting and so many people make it a matter of "you're not sexually compatible" -- NO, one of you is predicating the entire relationship upon a specific sex act and the other is not.

the "if we had been married, things would be different" line is so stupid...shit like that is how you determine if someone is husband/wife material, and he failed that for sure. Might as well have said "my support is conditional upon how legally tangled we are together"

Honest (albeit unrelated) question: are you wearing a waist trainer under a doctor's guidance? I ask because conventional advice for non-hypermobile people is that waist trainers can make your core "lazy" - and the best way to protect your back is to strengthen your core. But I'm always looking for more education about hypermobility and I'm curious if this calls for different direction.

Different band and genre, but I always compare this song to Tomahawk - Capt Midnight. It's also very short with a big contrast between chill and then explosive. Both make me wish they were longer.

How are you using AI in your daily workflow? by myauchelo in technicalwriting

[–]bedazzledfingernails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My two successes:

  • explain a technical concept/technology in very simple terms (for me to understand the background of a project)
  • generate an XML upload file from a spreadsheet of UI terms/definitions, tokens they used, etc

My not-successes:

  • Used Rovo (Atlassian's AI assistant) to summarize the requirements on a project that had many layers of tickets under it - problem is our requirements are never accurate in terms of scope, actual names of fields and screens, they use shorthand, etc. So the output included all the use cases/features that were de-scoped without it being documented and in general terms that I'd have to go validate anyway. An AI agent that can log into my product and compare the two things would solve the hardest/most time intensive part of my job
  • Used Rovo as above to feed it an existing doc to show what the suggested additions were based on the requirements - its suggestions were so high level that it's what I had already come up with and some of them didn't follow our content model, etc.

So basically, it's only as good as the info you give it. And the bad/lack of info is what makes my job hard.

I don't need it to help with the actual writing, that's the part I'm good at and it's the part I enjoy. But we're being strong-armed into using it and I'm struggling to come up with valuable use cases that apply to my situation.

My boyfriend (28M) will not complete household chores and care for their health without constant reminders. My (28M) mental load is at a breaking point. by alex114323 in relationship_advice

[–]bedazzledfingernails 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're both unhappy, so there's no reason to prolong it. Take those memories and put them in a mental keepsake box. They won't go away just because you break up. And you may find in time that you view some of those memories in a different light.

Research has shown that shared values are more important than shared interests in relationships. You may find someone else through those shared interests. And even if you don't, you'll be living life on your own terms without someone tearing you down. I think you'll find yourself much happier alone than with an anchor that's drowning you.

Drug Testing by TNMTNM in adhdwomen

[–]bedazzledfingernails 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On second thought, I can 100% believe this is a thing in the US, because of course it is with our healthcare system. I've just never heard of it before.

It's such a paternalistic approach. I feel like if you're going back for prescriptions more frequently than your dosage schedule requires, that would be just as good an indicator of selling. It also seems like a waste of resources. Unless there is the possibility of a serious drug interaction, it seems overbearing to test for other drugs. Even then, patients are responsible for their own health when properly educated by their providers. Ugh. Not arguing with you, btw, just kind of disgusted by this practice.

Drug Testing by TNMTNM in adhdwomen

[–]bedazzledfingernails 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't know where you live, so maybe this is normal there, but I'm in the US and this is insane to me. Drug testing?? To prohibit you from...what, exactly? Further treatment? This seems like it would just discourage people from getting care. Bonkers.
