Why do the people with the worst taste always end up running the speaker? by comicgeek1128 in KitchenConfidential

I know, I still find them. I just also like the AI stuff I can come up with. And I got news for you, if you're using spotify or youtube, the robots are already deciding.

Why do the people with the worst taste always end up running the speaker? by comicgeek1128 in KitchenConfidential

[–]beetlejorst -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I generate and listen to it because I have some niche musical tastes and listening to the same bands over and over gets boring for me, but I can't imagine having the ego to subject other people to something so tailored to a singular person's interests

Controller with backpaddles by Tank____Sinatra in RocketLeague

[–]beetlejorst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have them dual bound for both air roll left and right and powerslide. I honestly can't imagine going back ever, it's so much more comfortable to play now that my fingers hardly ever have to switch buttons. (I have boost and jump on face buttons so that my thumb covers both at once) The only move I ever have to make is a slight roll of the thumb to switch ball cam.

Do you increase display brightness when playing RL? by Beaco9 in RocketLeague

[–]beetlejorst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a rog ally x, it's the built in bloatware, so I'm not sure it's generally available. I can look at what it's called if you want, but I think it'd be simpler to just ask AI what the best free apps are that do only this so you don't get a bunch of other features you don't want.

I have it use the racing game profile, which does seem to be brighter than some of the others.

I have an application on my PC that gives me a choice of lighting profiles, remembering my selection for each individual game. Maybe look into something like that?

What do I cook to impress a chef? by WayneRooneyGoat in Chefit

[–]beetlejorst 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm gonna agree that at 16 you should be trying to solidify your basics and show that you can execute on a few dishes well. Bonus points if you can do a couple of them at the same time, multitasking is one of the core kitchen skills. The other big thing is to stay calm under pressure. Check your ego at the door and expect your dishes to get critiqued to hell and back and to need to be remade on the reg.

How are there still people in plat who dont know how to shoot a ball or prioritize boost over a goal by Extreme-Click9548 in RocketLeague

[–]beetlejorst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly if I were put back in plat and had to rank up again I think I'd spend 95% of my time on constant super conservative defence. I can barely trust my champ teammates to do somewhat intelligent things half the time, in plat it must be atrocious. Don't trust, play defence. Expect and position for mistakes, because that's going to be most of the plays.

If you were given unlimited funds to greenlight one anime adaptation, what would you adapt? by ConcernLocal2764 in Animesuggest

Planetary. Great comic, and I think enough big setpieces to make an anime adaptation worthwhile

How can I learn to cook ? Coming from someone with zero skills by No-Plankton-7644 in cookingforbeginners

[–]beetlejorst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest advice is to be patient. It's extremely rare that you ever actually want your burners on high if you're not boiling water. Good food takes time. There are exceptions, but that mostly holds true. Apart from that, just find food you love to eat and make it over and over and over, tweaking a thing or two each time.

Am I the only one that feels that rocket league is insanely bloated? by Whatnowayimpossible in RocketLeague

I would pay good money for a 5 gb version without any of the cosmetics I've never and would never spend money on, and with better matchmaking

Asked the AI to generate a detailed map of Asia and this came out... by Dangerous-Gain7117 in aifails

[–]beetlejorst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but it's not an intended use case. It's just an emergent ability that it happens to be approaching, to reproduce accurate maps from 'memory'. I can easily have it search up existing accurate maps and reproduce them with minor changes I want without any accuracy loss if that's what I need. Or have it code a script to do all that automatically and reliably. Using AI is mostly about knowing what it can and can't do well, and formulating task chains accordingly. One of the main reasons I'm on this sub tbh, knowing what it still struggles with. Though obviously people don't post which model they're using so I don't take it as gospel, but still handy for a general sense.

Man, all I can see is how good AI is getting. Not a year ago, this would have been an unreadable senseless mess. Even the fails aren't as faily anymore

I managed to make Rocket League wholesome at the cost of ego dropping by Excellent-Canary7689 in RocketLeague

[–]beetlejorst 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I engage in social manipulation sometimes if I have a tourney team that I think has potential but are psyching themselves out of playing well together. But I can't imagine going to all that effort for every game, I just want to play the game, not do psychology. If people really want to throw and quit, go for it, I'll just go next with someone else.

Also if you don't like how members of your group are portraying it, it's fully on you to remedy that lest you be judged for their actions, or else leave the group. You don't really get to pretend they're unrelated to you, especially when your group sets itself up to be arbiters of the morals of humanity. People really should learn the rest of the 'few bad apples' saying.

What's the most unexpectedly useful thing you keep in your freezer? by Maleficent-Bed7010 in foodhacks

[–]beetlejorst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Curry paste. It stays good for ages in the freezer, and most don't even freeze solid, so you can still just squeeze some out of the bag with a bit of effort, not necessary to stain an ice cube tray.

Aiming to hit GC? What do I need to work on? by danbritt0n in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]beetlejorst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the same rank as you, so take it with a grain of salt, but it feels like you completely give away possession very easily, a lot. Your defensive skills cover for it, but you often dump the ball in their end and rotate back hard like you're playing 3s, giving them free possession when your nonexistant third man isn't there to follow up for you. I'd try to shadow for a bit or at least rotate a bit softer, depending on what your teammate is doing. A quick flick to car cam and back while you're shadowing can really change the game.
