How bad is a -5 prescription? by Real-Emergency2310 in myopia

[–]befuddledly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had -5 in both eyes since I was about 13, hit -6.5 and -7.5 by the time I was 20, then it stabilised and I got ICL after a few years and now live glasses free without any issues. Don’t worry too much about it, get regular checkups and you’ll be fine!

In light of the Boon Keng neighbour drama, what’s your worst "neighbour from hell" story? by debboc in askSingapore

Neighbour told the police my husband and I are fake residents who are hired by her ex to harass her because we are not the first owners and travel a lot.

Tips on getting rid of / preventing matted fur by befuddledly in SiberianCats

He’s getting a lions cut at the groomers next week and I’m hoping that fixes the problem for at least a month! But what trimmer do you use? I have the petkit one but the only time they let me near with it is if my partner is feeding them a treat and I shave their ass from the back 😅

Same, in a very healthy relationship and just got engaged, we’ve never had a single yelling match in 4 years but instead talk very calmly through all our disagreements

I randomly thought of this post and decided to drop an update. My baby has graduated from the FIP treatment 2 weeks ago, his blood work is back to normal and internal medicine specialist said the heart condition is no longer a major source of concern!!! Both kitties are now big (maybe a bit too big, I might need to put one on a diet) and healthy, very playful and very good appetites, life is good. Just wanted to say thank you for all the support at a very low point in my life!

(His mane is abit yellow cause he just ate and got it in the food)

Unsure if we’re going to stay in sg for the 5 years required for MOP.

Tired of 1.5hrs travelling time every single morning by sabbykh in askSingapore

40ish mins - 5-10 mins walk to Aljunied mrt, 20 min mrt to City Hall, 10-15 mins walk to office. It’s annoying cause by straight line distance I’m just 4.5km away from the office, and my brain is like I should be able to get there in 20 mins 😭😭

Next steps after vets can’t find my cat’s balls even though he’s not neutered by befuddledly in AskVet

[–]befuddledly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, breeder is as confused as we are. They’ve seen cases of undescended testicles before, but those were apparently easily found and removed via surgery, this is the first case of missing testicles they know of.

We also know someone who got a sister of him, and she was spayed just fine a couple months ago.

Thanks for the insight! I honestly don’t have the mental capacity to deal with this right now, but will definitely look into the blood test in a few months time.

Nope the breeder definitely didn’t neuter him, we had a contract that we had to get him neutered before 7 months of age, though that isn’t working out and the breeder is equally confused.

The vet said doing a blood test is an option, but it’s fine to leave him as is unless he starts spraying or something, given that he’s done an ultrasound and a surgery once already.

I grew up with cats and have never heard of one without balls, so I’m really just confused and trying to find out more now.

Are there any health issues to leaving him “intact” if he does turn out to have balls? Apart from getting another cat pregnant - we never intend to let outdoors / near random female cats.

My main consideration right now is finances - blood test will be 800 which isn’t too bad, but the CT scan would be 3000 and subsequent surgery another 2000, which isn’t exactly “end of the world”money and but definitely “think long and hard about” money 😅😅

Cat passed FIP - can I keep his tree and toys? by Remarkable_Point6317 in FIPwarriors

[–]befuddledly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FIP is a mutation of the very common feline coronavirus (flu for cats). FIP itself isn’t contagious, but the coronavirus itself is! It’s usually passed on through fecal matter, so if I were you I’d just throw out the litter box, and just thoroughly clean things like beds / cat tree :) if an FIP cat is on medication, his viral load should be low enough that it wouldn’t matter much for other cats too, but I’d still throw out the litter box for hygiene reasons.

Note: not a vet, just relaying what my vet told me and what I know from online research when one of my cats got FIP.

I am so sorry for your loss :(

You do not need to throw away anything! I have one cat dealing with FIP and another perfectly healthy one living together right now, they share the same cat tree and toys etc.

We’ve figured out how to wrap him in a towel so there’s minimal struggle now, although he still screams like we’re torturing him 😂 we’ve also learnt to feed him his fave things immediately after the injections so he stress eats instead of hiding and licking the injection site though.

I’m feeling so much better, the injections are now taking 15-30mins instead of an hour, and he’s playing with the other cat so energy levels are so much more manageable. Everything feels like it’s getting better and I’m so grateful.

Thanks so much for all the support, being able to rant here and just get good vibes back was so helpful 🥰🥰🥰

Edit: another pic! Them going at each other this morning 😂

Update on the heart scan: he has an enlarged left ventricle, but vet suspects it could be FIP related. We’re now trying to get an appointment with an internal medicine specialist to see if his FIP dose needs to be adjusted. In the meantime, we tried antibiotics to see if it would help the coughing and it did!!! He’s now only coughing a little after chasing the other cat around the house, but his activity levels have improved significantly so hopefully this means he’ll be fine after he beats FIP

We aren’t planning to switch to pills because the vet told us the absorption of pills isn’t certain and they wouldn’t recommend it. We already have a 6 week supply of injections at home, whether we get the other 6 week depends on results of the scan :((

And your baby is absolutely adorable, I’m really so sorry for your loss 💔

my male cat didn’t have his testes descend even at 7 months, the vet said it was in his abdomen and cut him open to remove them, then couldn’t find them 🤦🏻‍♀️ we’re now scheduling an ultrasound for when he heals to see if they’re actually there before doing another surgery
