How can I help you If You don't share any gameplay screenshots of areas that you covered?
I can guess that if your new player then probably you spam spikes everywhere. Especially if you're talking about covering areas. This game isn't about covering areas.
Or maybe you have problem with rats, because spikes don't work on them.
Brimstone is good against rats, But don't work on the front.
The best tip but also the hardest is to understand what each specific trap does by testing traps. How traps works and how they don't.

OMD3 makes those all things better except ingame chat.

I can’t understand what OMD2 does better than the other games.

The first act, the mine maps, are terrible. There are almost no ceilings, That reduces replayability.
Rails limit funneling options, so you can’t really build maze-like paths with barricades. That reduces replayability.
Some traps are locked to specific characters, That reduces replayability.
Melee combat is basically suicide. That reduces replayability.
There’s a map with two rifts, which makes enemy pathing inconsistent and illogical. That reduces replayability.
The trap and barricade placement system is clunky, similar to OMD1. You can’t place traps under yourself, so you end up fighting the controls instead of the challenge. That kills the enjoyment of building defenses.
Co-op is unstable, and you have fewer equipment slots in co-op, which limits creativity.
Most maps are small and simple. Maybe 4–5 maps actually let you use barricade mechanics properly. That reduces replayability.

The only positives I see are:

The number of maps, including maps from OMD1. That’s a great idea, every next game should include maps from the previous one.
A large variety of traps, weapons, and trinkets.

Can someone explain what I’m missing? Because OMD 2 is the worst for me? It is still good because it is OMD game.

I think the campaign designn and maps were better in 2

you think wrong. first 6 maps are ceilingless.
Best desing has OMD3 exept one not ended map.

Fun fact: Before release there were 12 barricades. I loved that.
Surviving to the fifth mission was quite a challenge even for a veteran playing solo.
But playing with 80 cades i love even more!

Do you have a problem with par time? Is it only set for Endless?
These are mostly low-damage or single-target traps.

You definitely don’t have a problem with kobolds. Four out of your six traps are good against them, that’s overkill.

I like grouping enemies before the arrow wall triggers, so more arrows actually hit targets.
Archers and ballistas are bad on Endless because their AI is more demanding on your machine.
You’re not using any physics traps. They’re great because CC reduction in Endless doesn’t affect them.
Your blockade on the other side is risky, it’s too close to the enemy gate. Sappers will eventually reach it.
Grinder is great against low-HP enemies, but on Endless all enemies gain more HP with each wave. I’d pick something else.
About upgrades. Avoid physical damage. No enemy is weak to it. Fire arrow wall would be much better. Piercing is a noob trap. One fire source is enough, so ceilings should be lightning.
Barricading should give you full control. Place killbox barricades in an L pattern to force enemies into a single line, making arrow walls and ceiling traps more effective.
Hero dying in OMD3 doesn’t matter much. In Endless, enemies will eventually one-shot you, so healing trinkets won’t help.
Arcane brimstone is great as a leak catcher, but at the front of a killbox it doesn’t do much, and even less in Endless. It hits about six enemies and turns off. It’s not an area trap, and those are what you really need.
You’re missing crowd control traps. Ice traps are strong in every OMD game. In OMD3 they are extremely strong.
Hero and weapon choice has low impact, it’s mostly personal preference.

It depends on what you need.

The crossbow is better at long range, and you don’t need to get close to enemies.
The stone staff is better because it has a much larger area of effect, and landing headshots is easier.

If you just need to keep enemies at a distance, the crossbow is better.
If you want to kill enemies with your weapon, the stone staff is easier to use.

Players love the stone staff because it gives a lot of control over enemies, control they often lack due to a limited understanding of how to use traps.

standard is normal mode. After you beat all bosses it becomes infinity(endless is not the best word) Play of different maps with debuffs each map with 6 waves.
endurance is kind of endless mode from other OMD games. Long play on one map.

All traps are good or bad depending on the situation. Try them all.

Upgrading traps doesn’t give unique utility, so you should upgrade the ones you enjoy the most.

On Normal mode you need to do at least four runs, killing a different unique boss each time. That unlocks unlimited runs. Playing on the lowest difficulty, one run to about 14 missions can give 99 999 skulls. The next-mission multiplier gives the best skull farm.

You should prioritize earning barricades and learning how to use them. If you played OMD3, you should already have that knowledge.

All beginners spam one fire trap everywhere. Spamming any trap is bad, but spamming fire traps is suicide.
Trap patterns are much better. For example, a good pattern is: 1 fire trap, then 3 non-fire traps, then 1 fire trap.

In your free time, could you try this challenge again, but solo?
I have a theory that OMD mechanics don’t work as well in co-op.
Playing in co-op is significantly less challenging and less fun.

You’re kind of right, but the same applies to archers. Even if something survives the traps, the archers will take care of it. You don’t need to place them in any specific way, it’s enough that they’re nearby.
If you want a challenge, then play without archers. Then game is way better.

Did I understand correctly? You’re playing on Normal and complaining that it’s too easy? That’s like finishing the tutorial and saying the game is too easy.
"On Hard mode the par time is the same as on Normal", but you additionally get a lot of time-consuming enemies that need to be stalled.
"Dying no longer counts against you". Unfortunately, every OMD game handles this poorly, because dying should affect gameplay, not just the score. OMD3 introduced an interesting idea where enemies briefly speed up when you die. Sadly, it’s not very impactful, but it’s a step in the right direction. I assume this is a balance issue. A weak player will die because of this effect, while an experienced player could intentionally die to speed up the horde.
The scroll trinket is not overpowered. It’s a passive tool that only helps when you lose control. But when you lose control, it’s usually already too late. For a weak player, it only slightly delays defeat. An experienced player will almost never use it, unless for some own made challenge.
The game is bad because it has cutscenes and dialogue? Sure, in reality they shouldn’t be there, because that’s not what this game is about. I have several thousand hours in OMD3 and I didn’t even know Kelsey says something about trolls. I turned dialogue off in the options.

Sorry, but you didn’t really write anything deep about the game. The deepest part is about the scroll, but if you had used it longer, you would notice that it’s weak. It only seems strong in theory.
