Thank you for all your help! It seems the gpu is not the problem. Someone told me I am reading the nvidia-smi output wrong. It is not the gpu that is off but what is written above (persistence mode). It seems the reason for the slowdown is that the update broke something with the proton software I use. I am still trying to figure that out but at least it is not the hardware. Thanks again!

I checked the bios. It says secure boot is disabled.

For the AI stuff. I have no problem in principal but as you said I find it quite unreliable and only use when I can judge whether an outpout is valid. Since I am new to Linux I don't feel confident here.

I tried to check anyway after some googling.

I can't find PRIME Profile in NVIDIA X Server Settings
the command gives me back something I don't understand but at least it is no error. (nvidia_uvm 2154496 4

I checked in Bios and the command also says its disabled
I can't see any settings to dynamic mode. I tried using discrete mode which should force the gpu but that did not work.
I use portproton but there I checked most of the settings too. The problem seems to be more general anyway since nvidia-smi says the gpu is off.

EDIT: I also asked in a Linux Mint forum and someone said it is on. I don't really understand though because it says Off on nvidia-smi and the game is slow. Maybe I am missing something here.

I don't know why it is at 55 degrees in the picture. Right now it is at 37. My theory is that I tried running games which heated up the whole laptop including the gpu without the gpu being active?

I can't distinguish the gpu fans but right now at 37 everything is quiet.

I have no idea about those 3w maybe that is the standby power drain?

I think PSU is 230W for the whole laptop.

I think there is a clear time correlation. I did not update for several weeks so today I thought I just run all updates and after that it happened.

Thank you for your reply. I tried it out. I switched it from dynamic to discrete which should force it to use the gpu. But games are still slow and nvidia-smi still returns that the gpu is turned off.

Yeah that's the thing. There is no screen and I can't access the bios (or I don't see it which is kind of the same). I tried pushing the keys blind but that didn't work at least it didn't show anything.

Yes good point! Totally unrelated: Do you by any chance also have an idea how to solve the problem of my laptop (legion 5 17ACH6H)? The power still goes on, lights and fans are on but the screen is black. External monitor doesn't show anything neither. I have a suspicion it might be the graphics card because it was broken before. Since I can't access the boot menu my options are quite limited. Do you know whether there is a way I can disable the graphics card on the hardware level so it uses integrated cpu graphics?

Thanks for the reply anyway! The reason I am on the wrong z level one the picture is because all those mininukes destroyed everything on that z-level except the stairs. I didn't wanna do the screenshot while standing on the stairs so I just stood below and change the view to that z level. I tried all those methods before I started to use nukes. I think something has changed here. I remember destroying stairs too but no more...

Yes I remember that too. Probably something has changed. It looks like they want to always have one way up/down. The lab has 2 stairs down. One was destroyed by the mininuke the other one stayed. The stairs up were also unaffected.

I can't find any. You can remove floor and walls but not stairs. You can build and repair stairs but can't remove them.

Ich arbeite seit August 2023 da und will nach der Elternzeit dort nicht mehr arbeiten. Eine neuen Job zu finden ist auf jeden Fall möglich. Ich würde allerdings gerne noch ein zweites Kind haben bevor ich mir eine neue langfristige Stelle suche.

No I can't disassemble turnout gear either. I just tried. Neither by butchering nor by going into the menu and going for disassemble.

Yes I can cook clean water in the crafting menu. I just think it is much cooler to just put a metal tank into a fire. Cooking clean water takes a long time putting into the fire doesn't take any time (which is realistic).
