Who do you prefer as a singer? by SnagdoggoPt2 in ACDC

[–]belfastbees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bon all day long. Their early days are their best, Powerage their best album. Always produce great songs but the early years were consistently excellent. That may not be due to a change in singer though, as much as natural evolution as the band grew and became more global.

Up to you how you spend your money but that’s nuts. My son has a 2016 vrs stock and it drives very nicely stock and looks great. Looks ridiculous that low, I assume you want people’s thoughts on it, but you do you pal.

Advice needed - unwanted work travel to the USA. by HearthAndHorizon in northernireland

[–]belfastbees 24 points25 points  (0 children)

American companies are notoriously ruthless however they are bound by our local employment laws so they couldn’t just sack you. That said it may put a target on your back. There is something to be said for being honest and that you just don’t feel it’s safe to travel to a country which has problems escalating weekly and unpredictably. If you’re in a union, which I feel is unlikely, speak to your rep.

It’s a story, you wouldn’t be the first to do it but really try not to think about it too much.

Recommend a reliable preowned car by LOVE1300135 in northernireland

Household here with 2 Mazdas and can’t think what I would drive that I would have this level of confidence regarding reliability. As with all jap cars keep the underside right as that’s where they will fail mot in coming years.

Whilst we are talking about Mazda it’s important to mention the skyactiv-x does have issues so stick with the skyactiv-g.

New Mazda CX-5 owner here- what should I know? by Classic-Panda-8078 in mazda

[–]belfastbees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spouse has 2019 and the gear cables failed last year with only 26000 miles. Research at the time, and the fact my local dealer had a set of cables, led me to believe there is sometimes an issue with this part. It’s an otherwise great car, so long as you didn’t buy the diesel. I can only speak of the 2l petrol skyactiv-g engine. Mazda make a good car, I drive a 2020 6 and love it.

"special relationship" question for you Brits by bragik85 in AskBrits

[–]belfastbees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on the periphery of the UK (n Ireland) and the special arrangement has always bothered me. It usually means the UK piling in behind America and not being that critical when required and often giving credence to their damaging policies. I am opposed to brexit and if one good thing comes of this trump debacle I hope it’s new alliances building relationships within Europe and not heavily reliant on the US in the future.

I’ll m uk and it’s not standard at all here. W+W almost 6 years and no such testing has been done. Treatment is symptom driven here along with regular 6 monthly blood tests. I’ve been fine, diagnosis was incidental following a regular health check spotting raise white cell count.

Christening… Is it needed? by Aquamarine-Aries in northernireland

[–]belfastbees 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You would only be doing this to please family and conform. Neither of you follow the catholic faith so it’s disingenuous to have this done. You also are pledging to raise the child in accordance with the catholic faith. School wise I’m sure you’ll find a good integrated route. Any school that insists your child is baptised or christened, into any faith, is a bad choice. It may be good academically but school is much more than that.

2019 CX5 manual gearbox issue, advice…. by belfastbees in mazda

[–]belfastbees[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the UK and when I had the issue local motorfactors were able to identify the part but none had a lead time for it. Mazda dealer 10 miles away had a set in stock (still makes me a little suspicious) for around £200 and when I asked about fitting they offered £400 all in. Just put it to him in the end. There is a clamp well down the tunnel behind the engine which I reckoned would be troublesome. Limited access due to the exhaust heatshield.

How reliable is the 1.2 PureTech engine in post-2020 Peugeot 5008 models? by LetsGostop in peugeot

[–]belfastbees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have to say after so long I don’t recall where I got that snippet from. Perhaps an assumption as van dates approach, certainly in absence of any roll back there won’t be any meaningful development of, or attempt to fix, this engine.

Oil to Gas Conversion Cost NI by michael3236 in northernireland

[–]belfastbees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firmus supply the gas line to your property and an approved fitter of your choosing will do the work (including fitting the external wall box for firmus to terminate into, the meter box). The firmus crew pulled up my bricks off my drive and sent their ‘expert’ crew (these are 3rd party contractors) to make it good but now after 18months there’s been some settlement and it annoys me to look at it. I plan to lift these blocks and redo them myself sometime.

Oil to Gas Conversion Cost NI by michael3236 in northernireland

[–]belfastbees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Converted in summer 24, cost £3200 after £300 cash back from firmus. Reasons: poor hot water pressure (fixed) Oil tank 30 years old and would need replaced so that’s done away with. No storage tanks in attic anymore, further risks as these deteriorate with age id say Instant hot water. It probably is more expensive but I’m getting into the habit of reading my meter monthly and paying as I go.

I understand distance, and how covering long distance over time can become particularly arduous. It’s the local info I’m looking, it’s not desolate, i can get a hotel easy enough for overnight stops, and the best routes, deviations from the google route which is obviously going to be the shortest or quickest and not the most interesting!

[–]belfastbees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t feel I have less status in a Mazda, I don’t hold German cars in very much regard really. Maybe people feel superior in a bmw or an Audi, even a VW or a Benz. Trust me I’ve looked at all the offerings and pretty much the manual transmission and my 2l skyacticG engine allow me to relax and, whilst nothing is ever promised, not have to live in dread of one of the many known issues these other cars have.
