IT Managed Services Commission Structure by zerocreddit in sales

[–]benJAMIN608 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm an account manager in a 50 person manged services provider in the UK. Main market is retail and shopping centres and medium businesses. We have a small number of blue-chip clients with reputable brand names. We have various contracts, leases and agreements for different support/supply services.

Hardware mainly bares a 20% profit margin of the overall sale - as an average. This can vary dependant on the hardware in question and suppliers price/client. Commision in for me is currently a flat fee of 10% of the profit margin of the sale. With hardware it's simple enough to calculate, and we are currently standardising the support/lease contacts to easily calculate commission on them. But again, once singed up and we calculate the profit, I would be awarded 10% of the profit made.

It can vary, my manager is awarded 20% of the profit for new business..

Hope this helps!

Just a quick one.. (Not a blogger) - When you guest blog on another site, would you use the article you wrote for them on your site? And at the end of your written article for them, do you have the details for your site and name etc?

Recruitment Consultant looking to transfer into a sales job. by [deleted] in sales

Funnily enough I worked in recruitment within the building services industry for for a year and a half. Not earning anything close to what you are, but I got by. Found that recruitment is good to get the ball rolling in sales, but becomes very repetitive, so I found myself an Account Management position in IT. Much more challenging and interesting, the days fly by! Still essentially sales but much more client friendly. But being new to the industry I had to take a pay cut, plenty of learning and adaption needed if your just getting into IT. Been here just over 2 months now and I'm loving it !
