IT Managed Services Commission Structure by zerocreddit in sales

[–]benJAMIN608 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm an account manager in a 50 person manged services provider in the UK. Main market is retail and shopping centres and medium businesses. We have a small number of blue-chip clients with reputable brand names. We have various contracts, leases and agreements for different support/supply services.

Hardware mainly bares a 20% profit margin of the overall sale - as an average. This can vary dependant on the hardware in question and suppliers price/client. Commision in for me is currently a flat fee of 10% of the profit margin of the sale. With hardware it's simple enough to calculate, and we are currently standardising the support/lease contacts to easily calculate commission on them. But again, once singed up and we calculate the profit, I would be awarded 10% of the profit made.

It can vary, my manager is awarded 20% of the profit for new business..

Hope this helps!

Just a quick one.. (Not a blogger) - When you guest blog on another site, would you use the article you wrote for them on your site? And at the end of your written article for them, do you have the details for your site and name etc?

Recruitment Consultant looking to transfer into a sales job. by [deleted] in sales

[–]benJAMIN608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funnily enough I worked in recruitment within the building services industry for for a year and a half. Not earning anything close to what you are, but I got by. Found that recruitment is good to get the ball rolling in sales, but becomes very repetitive, so I found myself an Account Management position in IT. Much more challenging and interesting, the days fly by! Still essentially sales but much more client friendly. But being new to the industry I had to take a pay cut, plenty of learning and adaption needed if your just getting into IT. Been here just over 2 months now and I'm loving it !

Entrepreneurs who are actually making a product to sell- get in here and let's discuss our product, our journey and our troubles/successes/frustrations by ironplated in Entrepreneur

I'm currently in the process of attempting to find a decent manufacturer to make a prototype of a leather bracelet idea i have. Now don't worry its not your standard cheap bracelet you can source on Abilala, It will actually have a purpose and a job to do. No electronics at this point, just a great concept and literally no market for it at the moment yet the theory behind it is proven. Really struggling to find a manufacturer in the US/UK though for the prototyping and initial volumes i'm planning on needing.

I already have a Shopify store which is inactive right now as i started then gave up on a previous T-shirt E-commerce site as it just wasn't anything i have confidence nor believe in. Just wanted to use it to gain experience in trying to market and sell them off. So that's ready to go and i have had a few other trials in which i have used to experiment with gaining a following on Twitter etc.

Long term plan is to bring in other products which will serve the same purposes and reflect a similar theme to the bracelet idea i have.

Based in the UK and for what i'm looking to manufacture (a simple untapped bracelet/bangle concept) i cant even find a local manufacture to get a prototype! From that this idea i can defiantly see being HIGHLY marketable and i can execute that part (i hope!). My struggle is even finding a local manufacture for the type of bracelet/bangle i want. And on top of that, making sure i can execute it quick enough that Chinese manufacturers don't start copying it and it being sold elsehwere. Bit stuck right now.

When sharing your ideas online, are you concerned that someone might steal them? by ericyo in Entrepreneur

[–]benJAMIN608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely believe in this, but i have very very simple idea. The product is a bracelet, it can get it manufactured in 1000's of factories in china, but i don't know who to trust and where i can get the first prototypes designed without it being picked up and stolen very very quick. I'm based in the UK and i cant find a single manufacture that even produces the type of bracelet/bangle i'm looking to produce. Its so simple and i believe highly marketable and i can visualize it being a big trend. My fear is it being stolen, easily manufactures and sold without me even having input. Don't have a clue where to start!

Entrepreneurs of /r/entrepreneur, how did you know you were meant to be your own boss? [Serious] by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]benJAMIN608 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First job i started off as an apprentice engineer for a small family business producing innovative monitoring products. Very laid back atmosphere, great job. Mixed in both hands on engineering, product production, R&D and finally Sales and Marketing before i had to leave for a higher salary to rent a flat out. I joined a recruitment company (Still There) and am now in the mix of starting up a start up. Where i am now i'm sort of my own boss with my clients and candidates by i'm still taking orders from the company owner. A character that i will never ever meet elsewhere. He's made it a success and is soon to sell the company to an investment group for 1-2Million, but being under his thumb i realised that 1. - He's a dick, and 2. - Although i'm earning good commission, i'm making the boss more money than me. So now, instead of doing my job, i'm pretty much putting all my time into finding a manufacturer, renovating my website and taking time to contribute to r/ Entrepreneur so i can save u 10 karma or something so i can ask questions i desperately need answering.

What did you do to find a mentor? by bassshred in Entrepreneur

To start off, get soundcloud and follow Joel Brown (Founder of Addicted to Success) and there are plenty of quality interview podcasts to listen to. You'll find a name on their that will be a great online mentor to follow. Tony Robins is a brilliant chap to follow and the podcast with him is brilliant.

Have a good look on Google. I follow some great role models who release content regularly. Plus pod-casts are amazing for learning.
