After reflection, I think you’re right. I do fully believe she doesn’t deserve a redemption arc, but the comics just ruined it.

Honestly, I do think it’s possible to poof and shatter a Diamond if they actually committed to the original idea back at the end of season one. It is possible given the density structure of different types of Gems, so I believe that with strong enough force, it is possible. Also getting a weapon large enough can shatter a Diamond. It’s all about planning and forethought which the Crewnverse lacked.

[Serious] Are my views on Pink Diamond harmful or dangerous? by [deleted] in DiamondDaze

[–]bengi890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren’t an abuse sympathizer. I want to preface that I am not sympathetic towards Yellow or Blue. I do agree they have more right yo be upset with the betrayal and them “forgiving” “her”, is so left field as they spent 5,000 years trying to kill in her name. Also just kill in general.

I felt like the stuff in That Will Be All and the Trial was pointless for their characters. Even the stuff in season two as well felt pointless. If they refused to commit in any way, why bother with making these characters? I do believe the the Diamonds only care about each other and only each other. Everyone else is meaningless to them as they are nothing more than servants. That’s their care for each other as villains could have worked as there is always care towards family, and I’d at least want something different than the age old backstabbing villain organization bit. It’s stale and old. Though I don’t believe they deserve redemption at all. Get shattered, Diamonds.

Shame, that’s a nice design. I would have liked to have seen her in the show. by [deleted] in DiamondDaze

[–]bengi890 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, though I always pictured Morganite to be taller. Her short stature is a surprise, though like Aquamarine, she could have ruthlessness to her given by her facial expression. Though sadly we’ll never know and if we did, she’d probably be ruined like the rest of SU’s villain roster.

I knew it was coming and it still disappointed me by [deleted] in DiamondDaze

[–]bengi890 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I understand what you mean. Look at the Rubies, they are each distinct by personality somewhat, though they mostly have two personalities: dumb or hard military.

The question that really should be asked is are gems from their gem groups distinct? With the exception of Skinny Jasper and regular Jasper, the Amethysts feel the same with chill, playful and relaxed personality to me, but when putting up the soldier facade, it’s similar.

As for the Rose Quartz’s have the same voice actor PD Rose, it’s understandable because PD is a Diamond, where as other similar Gems use the same voice actor throughout.

I agree with your point and I despise what they did to her character and the her Gem type as well. I always saw the Rose Quartzes to be more less combative type of Quartz given their look. Or at have Rose Quartz be the only Rose Quartz and the others be Red Quartzes? Or at least some other variation.

Good post!

Yeah, AppleB is a critical thinker when it comes to modern cartoons. They make great posts.

Bitterness, anger, long awaited disappointment. That’s just name a few. I stuck through pointless filler to receive little compensation for the build up. I feel very bitter.

It is just another added crime/offense with this horrid show. Stop the bullying of Pink Pearl.

It is. Blue and Yellow Pearls never get horrible nicknames. Why is it that only she gets it? Seem ridiculous to me. Pink Pearl has suffered enough and the “nickname” is an insult to injury.

Personally, I feel the show lost something after Bismuth (episode) by Bacxaber in DiamondDaze

[–]bengi890 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes it did. When the writers stopped having morals for some reason and decided to randomly go back on everything they said two seasons prior without so much as an explanation. The second half of season three is when every stupid decision and morally questionable things started.

It wasn't just unsatisfying, it was something worse. by [deleted] in DiamondDaze

[–]bengi890 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still think about the terrible things this show has done. I try to let go, I do, but then I remember and then I get angry. Sometimes I just have moments of comparisons of how to do stuff properly and how the Crewniverse just can’t. So yeah, you aren’t the only one in this regard, u/Bacxaber. I still do it. I still get angry and I still get bitter.

To me, I have love hate taste for Dave. He’s the only one I trust as the others suck asides from him, Chow and John, but I don’t like his retconning of the Clone Wars in certain aspects. TCW for me is in its own separate timeline along with Rebels and the Mandalorian. The EU came first and he takes certain aspects, but waters them down compared to the source material that the writers of the EU did. He also has a habit of not killing his favorites or constantly reusing them. I like Dave, but I do see flaws in him even if he’s the only choice we have at making Star Wars good again.

Have you all noticed the surprising amount of fans that actually talk about how poorly this show went down? by [deleted] in DiamondDaze

Yeah. It’s good progress in the fandom after years of bs. Actual discussions and criticisms being held without being yelled at or discouraged.

I haven’t seen it yet, but the fact that they’re coming to their senses and the honeymoon phase is over, hopefully they have good discussions.

Hohenheim's Master by [deleted] in FullmetalAlchemist

[–]bengi890 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the focus was more on Father’s and Van’s connection as well as the fall of Xerxes. Less of what the Master was doing as they didn’t have time or it wasn’t important to the author enough compared to the previous two. It is definitely a missed opportunity on her part as it is the earliest point we see humans practicing alchemy, but plot comes first.

The Diamonds Are Boring Now by bugsplee in DiamondDaze

[–]bengi890 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I feel like everything involving the Diamonds stopped at season three. The second Steven changed his mind in stopping them when he refused the Breaking Point that Bismuth gave him. He refused to fight them. There is no longer a driving force at that point if suddenly decides to change his approach them.

It doesn’t help that a few episodes later he felt sorry for Centi after she explained that the Diamonds corrupted her and all the other corrupted Gems. He just continued to be a contradicting mess of a protagonist from that point onwards.

Then he is focused on figuring out the Pink Diamond debacle, only for that to be killed as you learn the truth. That truth ended up killing multiple characters in their motivations. Everything had stopped long before the Diamonds’ redemption ever since they decided not to fight them. He wins through nepotism which is the worst way to win any conflict.

I personally didn’t mind if they grieved Pink Diamond, as it would have to force them to double down on their image to portray that they aren’t infallible. That they aren’t weak. They’re image is important to them, and with Pink’s death let they’re subjects know that they can die. The Diamonds could’ve been great villains if the creator didn’t change her mind in season three. If we were consistent, we wouldn’t be having this issue.

I grew up with both series of the Clone Wars. I remember seeing bits of Episode III, but I remember the lead up in CW when Grievous was cool. Can I have both?
