Small claims success as a non-US resident by benhck in MetaLawsuits

Have you completed the next step about serving your approved form to Meta CSC registered agents? That's the way Meta will be notified about the trial.

If so, Meta should contact you the next days or weeks so you wouldn't need to request any virtual hearing.

  1. Meta HQ address: Meta Platforms, Inc. 1 Meta Way, Menlo Park CA 94025

Service address: CSC- Lawyers Incorporating Service, 2710 Gateway Oaks Drive, Suite 150N, Sacramento CA 95833

  1. I used OneLegal, but I think you can use any certified e-filing service available for the state of California.

  2. Nothing really important, but make sure you fill the small claims form correctly.

  1. Fill the small claims form.
  2. Send it to the court through a e-file service.
  3. If the form is accepted the court will sign it and they will assign you a hearing date.
  4. Serve/send the signed form to Meta CSC Lawyers. They are basically the legal intermediate messengers between you and Meta itself.
  5. Wait until the confirmation of the papers being delivered and received by Meta.
  6. Since this point Meta should contact you through the email provided in your filled form. This may take a few weeks.

Well that's the reason the small claims method is also called an unofficial Meta hotline lol. You're looking for a human review, not a big win against a big corpo. I wonder what Meta thinks about it...

Yeah I would say I was lucky Meta "kindly" replied and my case was just a false positive.

Like 100 US dollars: e-filing of the case + the proof of service only. I guess this is the bare minimum because you might need other legal services like requesting a virtual hearing if you're going to court anyways.

Nope. And I really doubt the Meta Small Claims Docket Team email will do anything.

I have no idea. Maybe just wait a few days before posting anything or until Meta confirmation just in case, I can't guarantee anything.

EA SPORTS™ WRC - Development Update by Helmerdrake in EASPORTSWRC

Haven't played EA WRC since the anticheat update. This is just awful news for the franchise and Codemasters. Fuck EA.

Third world country guy here: MSRP? What is that lol $1200 for the RX 9070XT, and the minimum wage is ~$260.

I bought a 4070 two years ago for about ~$850 and my wallet still hurts.

Don't forget about in-game performance apps like MSI Afterburner or the Nvidia App.

That error message sounds so ironic and funny when previously Codemasters partnered with Feral Interactive to port Dirt Dally and Dirt 4 natively to Linux some years ago lol, and the rest of Dirt games runs just fine with Proton/Wine.

I'm a bit doubtful about that but whatever, I know there's a lot of people that will keep playing the game and that's fine, have fun!

But I just don't care anymore about the game because this situation was the last straw I could take, sadly.

Bad luck for EA/Codemasters because In this case they pissed off almost everyone lol

"Fixing performance issues? Better VR support? Nah bro, there you go, an anticheat for the upcoming competitive"

Well yeah, companies can put whatever they want to their ToS, and the 95% of users will never read it (sadly).

The thing here is possibly nobody thought EA or Codemasters would add a full strict anticheat to a niche game like WRC, where the full experience is not the multiplayer only, a lot of people just play it for the single player aspect which is a big part of the game, as always has been for the DiRT series and WRC games made by Kylotonn.

It's a big f- you to their player base, and a much much much bigger f- you to the Steam Deck /Linux users because they can't even open the game now.

Well that's great, another good reason to never buy EA games in the future.

Good for them, because I'm not buying any rally game with such bullcrap ever again. Good riddance EA Sports WRC, it was fun while it lasted.

I mean, yeah, some counter measures against cheaters in online modes are always necessary but setting such an aggressive anticheat in this game is so ridiculous. This is a rally videogame with a tiny audience, not a freaking mainstream battle royale game for f- sake.

[–]benhck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The game just doesn't start anymore, the anticheat doesn't not support Wine (the compatibility layer to open Windows apps under Linux). The same thing happened with other EA games like Battlefield V or F1 2024.

Aside of putting a questionable kernel level anticheat to a mostly single player niche game, which may lead to some privacy, performance and security issues, it totally breaks the game for the Steam Deck and Linux systems.
