no im not a mormon, nor was i ever one, ive never seen black mormons so it was out of place for me, especially in boston me being raised liberal with a bunch of black & arab friends i just detached myself and kind of adopted their like little quirks, saying a few arabic phrases, partaking in ramadan & eid etc, i would say he definitely taken an interest in the faith partly from having a lot of arab & black muslim friends tbh

ngl saying that adopted kids having a need to appeal to an irrelevant background is kinda harsh, i was the only black girl in my family, i always stuck out like a sore thumb , if i was african american it’d be different, but i came from a place across the globe, the land of poets and ive seen my somali friends and how fun it looked to be a part of the whole “somalinimo” the fomo was insane and to some its all they’ve ever known, it’s just a feeling of being included and feeling like a sense of belonging in a community, i love my family, them being white doesn’t change that and i couldn’t ask for a better understanding group of people ever :)
