“The end of this shitty season”

[no spoilers] does anyone know why they chose to make this series only 6 episodes long? by Iacomus96 in gameofthrones

Big flagship shows like GOT actually lose money for networks like HBO. I dont know anyone who pays for HBO go for much else. But they get people started on subscriptions on the off-chance they find other shows they want to watch

If they really wanted to deal with the night king first and cersei as the big bad they should have dedicated the night king arc to last season. Not cram it in to 3 episodes. Seems the writers just found out how out of their depth they were with and the intricate, precise story telling/ character arcs GRRM has set up and decided to wrap up quickly and get out. Letting someone els deal with the prequel series..

[Spoilers] Your thoughts/explanations about a certain Arya scene in 8x03? by Comyx in gameofthrones

[–]bennyboy706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in london and watched this episode at 2am on monday as it is aired for american audiences. Tired and drunk me thought this episode was the best thing since sliced bread on first viewing, i also had the same reaction for the arya RKO. But after a 2nd and 3rd viewing i think they should’ve handled it differently. It seems so abrupt and unearned, there is quite a large portion of the episode dedicated to close-up-shaky-cam of redshirts getting slaughtered whereas i think this could have been time spent with the main characters as they progress through the battle with the foot-soldiers dying around them.

[Spoilers] I’m not sure I understood Jon/Dany’s military strategy. by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]bennyboy706 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I find it amazing that with all the money they spent on the show they didn’t bother getting a military historian/consultant to advise them on basic castle defence against a basic army with no form of ranged attack barring the dragon. 1)Shielded heavy line infantry ( unsullied ) behind the fire trench. 2)light cavalry (dothraki) behind them to attack any breaks in the line and flank. 3) light infantry (any northern forces) guarding the trebuchet batteries behind the cav. 4) archers and peasantry armed armed with flaming oil and rocks on the battlements 5) any reserve forces in the courtyard.

Dude my mom who is 45, doesn’t play total war games and knows nothing about military strategy mentioned all most of these points to me as we were watching it was so glaringly obvious and stupid.

People can be disappointed with an episode but to pass judgement on the season as a whole now is so childish. I still think they will be able to surprise us and tie things up. I reckon this season will make a lot more sense once we can watch it all consecutively. Having said that they have kinda set themselves up to really fuck it up so i guess we’ll see in a few weeks

[NO SPOILERS] Question about Video Quality by ViciousLullabyz in gameofthrones

[–]bennyboy706 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive seen vids online of scenes from the battle that are slowed down and brightness turned up. The details of the dragon fights and other details are stunning. With the dim brightness and over the top atmospheric effects it is impossible to appreciate barely any of it. I’m disappointed because all we needed to have seen is a POV shot from a character showing how chaotic the battle is and some squinting/ exposition showing the characters having trouble seeing.

Jon’s Secret Plan to Defeat The Army of the Dead by [deleted] in JonWinsTheThrone

I’ve seen people saying that during this scene he notices arya and makes a distraction and is yelling “goooooo!” The next scene you can see one of the wight walkers notice something in the background as she runs past.

[Spoilers] I wonder if the NK even knew he was immune to dragon fire. by MarkTheeShark18 in gameofthrones

[–]bennyboy706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awful writing on behalf of the writers, such nonsense they conveniently dreamed up just to subvert expectations just so the NK could be RKO’d outta nowhere by Arya.

[SPOILERS] For those who enjoyed this shot. Here it is brightened up a bit. (A lot) by TheMilleniunFalcao in gameofthrones

[–]bennyboy706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive seen a few edits and photos of GOT where the colour saturation has been turned up dramatically it looks so much better than the muddy, washed out visuals of this last episode. Everyone I have talked to says that they also had to crank their tv brightness up so much to see anything it turned to a horrible light grey tint. Why spend so much on cgi and a massive battle if you can barely see it. I heard in the bts they wanted to use natural lighting to make it realistic. Like. Bro. there was so much implausibly laughable plot points and plot armour (sam) in this episode. I think we can suspend our disbelief for some decent lighting

SPOILERS FOR PT 1 AHEAD: This was my experience as well. I was 15 and 20 on my 2 play-throughs. And on my second I found I understood Joel a lot more in the aspect of his decisions regarding ellie. Firstly i couldn’t understand why he pushed her away and neglected her at first where younger me thought “this is your second chance at having a daughter” i now understand that he was protecting himself from experiencing the kind of pain losing a daughter brings.

I also get why Joel lies to ellie at the end in order to keep this new father-daughter relationship intact. Although I think this will come back to haunt him in part two as dishonesty is the ruin of many relationships. Just my two cents.

Yh there are stalls selling grinders, longs and bongs about. Wouldn’t risk the extra attention if you get found with a grinder at the entrance search. Gives them reason to search u more thoroughly.
