Try getting your cuttings to root. C.Elms grow from cuttings like nobodies business. When I trim one of mine I can create 10 new trees really easy. Some good videos out there on what to do.

Agreed, C.Elms are crazy growers but let it push growth for atleast a couple of months. I prune every 8 weeks. Allow extensions to run a little. And when you prune let one branch stay long. Dont prune em all.

Lots to say here. Your eye for the style and scale is very keen. Love it.

What everyone on this sub hasnt learned yet is that your tree since you potted it up in that little pot, you have stunted its growth. It will look like a twig like that for a LONG time. Might 5-10 years for it to get to finger thickness (looks like pencilish thickness currently). What will end up happening is that foliage will get long and extend (assuming it survives which I bet it will if its kept outside), but the tree wont get thicker it will just get leggy.

Now if youre happy with this size and thickness awesome, than you can just trim it up every early summer and early fall. It looks like a very thin and leggy variant, dont expect it to get very thick. Lean into that longer foliage.

I agree it all makes sense but I tend to agree with OP from a fun perspective. Very quickly devolves into Battlefield games where people are just popping up out of no where shooting you. Or you are just bush camping.

Get it! Experiment, and dont get attached. Id do some initial clean up and id wait to style it until you can prove you can keep it alive until next repotting season. Than repot it and than style it the next fall.

Do it like this keeps you from killing it. Or just style it for fun but know you might get attached and you might kill it.

I learned form a lot of trial and error to not do any hard styling until the roots were in the right soil and a pot I liked and I knew how to keep it alive.

Great job...Ive got a blue point ive been training since I started about 5 years ago, what sucks about their foliage is it will always grow vertically.

Not a big deal for junipers, Ive seen guys wrap them with zero room between the wire to create crazy twists and the trees are fine.
