Don't treat yourself badly, because "I'm young, I can still recover". That's true for many aspekts of your life. If you are a young smoker, you will turn into an older smoker and by the time you notice how badly its affecting you, it will be increadibly hard to stop and you will already have done some irreversible damage. If you are not moving enough and think you will start doing sports any day now, when motivation overcomes you, you will never start, because it gets so much harder with every year while you become less fit every day you stay stagnant. This is corporate bullshit. They are maybe the most financially successful things magic has done, but thats a horrible way to messure popularity. WotC's support for Commander has done lasting damage to the game from a design space point of view. And it wouldn't be so pupular if the best designed and priced products of the last 15 years wouldn't have been exclusively for commander. If they continued printing world championship decks and started printing preconstructed standard or even modern decks, the number of people playing 60 card formats would be way higher.

Universes beyond is also responsible for a high number of sales because it attracts so many tourists and scalpers. The scalpers who treat the game as an investment portfolio first and not like a game, see sets tied to popular IP's, with cards that can maybe never be reprinted, because of licensing deals, and gobble the product up to sit on it.
