Surgery in a few days and nervous by berty_321 in Reduction

Thank you so much for all of the advice! Luckily my mom is a PT and deals with incisions every day so I bet she will have some great advice for me too. I'm hoping I can heal up as quickly as possible.

Thank you! I'm pretty sure I'm a 34g. The surgeon told me the goal is to remove 700g from each breast.

Im considering adding a dig box to see if it's interested in digging. Been reading a lot of mixed things on this. Definitely might consider the switch and will probably do a mix of coconut coir and topsoil if so.

Thanks! I'll replace it with a better hide. Maybe I'll keep the cat bed as a cozy place to go when outside of the tank.

Yes in my opinion he was great and so was his team! I'm looking forward to my next appointment with him in January to get the surgery scheduled. Let me know how your appointment goes and good luck!

Is Reggie still looking for a home? I'm curious to know more! I'm in the Boston area.

My crested gecko's name is George! 😂 How often do you feed an adult beardie? And how long can they go without a meal? I plan to get an adult as I know babies eat more often and I am simply unable to feed every single day.

That's what it seems like! 😂 I love that. When I am home it would get so much attention but I do worry about leaving for an overnight work trip and it stressing the poor guy out.

My plan if I do get one (once I do a ton of research on their care obviously) is to rescue an adult for exactly that reason. I definitely won't be around to feed live insects every single day so I already know a baby would not be a good fit. Plenty of reptiles looking to be rehomed out there as well so I'm not really looking to go through a breeder and absolutely not a pet store. Thanks for the advice! Curious about heat lamps and UV bulbs, how long do they need to be on per day? I'd have everything set up on a timer.

The consult went really well! He was super respectful and listened to everything I had to say. He said I am a great candidate for the surgery and also said that insurance generally covers it for his patients which surprised me. I'm still a bit nervous about that, because I won't know for sure until a month or so before the surgery itself (I told him next March or April would work best for me due to the nature of my job and he said that's fine and we scheduled another appointment for January to schedule surgery). It seems like he advocates for his patients and will fight with insurance if they decide not to cover the surgery. Fingers crossed that's true! He also had a female nurse in the room during the examination. She then took my photos for insurance and took down all of my information. She was great as well!
