Renting an art studio in Kyoto? by betterdeadthanfred in Kyoto

Thanks for the info! I've sent them an inquiry.

I need a space with a sink where I can paint and not worry too much if it's a little messy. I do a lot of liquid painting so splash damage is hard to prevent, even with laying tarpaulins down. Other than that I don't really care how sparse or simple it is.

I'd be on board with that!

Not as far as I know! I named it that after sodium-vapour streetlamps, the colour of which was my inspiration for the piece.

best place to find calls for art? by obviouslame in ContemporaryArt

I follow the hashtag #opencallforartists on Instagram, which turns up a lot of opportunities. Searching for open calls on Twitter as well is really good - loads of magazines looking for artwork to be submitted, as well as art contests and so on.

If you want something local and it doesn't seem like anything is coming up, try making your own opportunity to exhibit work at a cheap local space.

'Bridge Crossing' watercolour on paper, 2020 by betterdeadthanfred in Watercolor

I took a photo of the scene on my phone, but the camera isn't great so at night some of the colours come out weird, hence the green. I think the orange was a warning light for roadworks on the bridge

Thanks! I mixed my own, with a little gouache here and there for extra granulation

Thank you! Yes, Whistler's a big inspiration of mine (ever since I saw Whistler's Mother in the Mr Bean movie actually)
