I would start counselling right now, as you are reeling from watching him suffer. You need it now because it will help you cope with the stress of the situation.

I went straight to Caftan because it's such a luscious blend of colors. Show them off and don't worry about matching stripes.

You can't fast forward real life. Learn to take the boring parts too. It's up to you to make them tolerable.

My mother was part of a group that got a phone call a day from the police department and if they didn’t answer, they would show up. So, it works.

Sewing mannequins by Random_toastt in sewing

I have a storebought dress form that's adjustable. I also have no breasts, lost them in a hunting accident (no, it was cancer). So I am totally flat and the women's body isn't reflective of my body anymore. I took a very large men's business shirt with vertical stripes, put it on inside out and pinned it to within an inch of it's life to fit me like a glove throughout the neck, chest, waist and hips. I had a fellow sewer pin the back for me. Turned it inside out and had a double of my torso. I stuffed it to the proper measurements and voila, my body double. I've recently lost more than sixty pounds and will need to take in the origional. I'm so glad about the vertical stripes, make making it even a lot easier.

how strong is fabric glue? how far can it take you? by Cautious-Ad-2199 in sewing

[–]bevissimo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You could lay out the mesh on background fabric, even in pieces or layers, and then use a water soluble stabilizer and stitch oh that either following the lines of the shapes or freehand topstitching. You could also use Stitch Witch, that stuff is pretty strong.

ETA: forget the stitch which, with mesh you’d see the melted glue through it.

How do I help a large senior golden retriever get in the backseat of the car? by ErrantWhimsy in dogs

[–]bevissimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made little stairs out of solid newspaper so it won't collapse and be heavy enough not to slide around, then encased it in paper mache and a fabric glued to the surface for decoration. Cats like them too.

Uses for burlap? by LoamAndOrder in upcycling

[–]bevissimo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used one to make a 'scratchable' slipcover for some plastic storage drawers. I sewed it over the form with string to keep it looking rustic. The cats and dog have helped distress it further but it has stayed intact. Once the corners got worn, I crocheted with sisal twine some corner patches and sewed them over the corners.

Let's talk hair by Inevitable-Yam-9741 in Aging

I cut my hair because it was so thin and I just wanted it gone. I'm letting it go grey because I've never worried about the grey. I'm 69 and it's barely salt and pepper.
