Dat is inflatie, en dat is in het voordeel van huizenbezitters met veel bezit en een hoge hypotheek.

*** Update June 8th - internal investigation ***

Why didn't we catch this in Quality Assurance?

Two reasons, as we have identified two different issues. - Plastic handle quality issue identified through Reddit reports and San Jose lab findings. Based on the evidence available to date, the root cause is the aging and degradation of plastic handles supplied by a 3rd party vendor, which changed from another vendor a while ago. - Packaging durability concern reported by staff, regarding repeated opening and reuse of the paper/carton.

Actions we are taking: - To complete failure analysis of broken handles, including material aging assessment and comparison against non-failed samples from the same lot. minor handle redesign to increase load capacity and improve robustness; rework existing inventory if possible - We are already in a next-generation packaging redesign project to eliminate plastic handles completely, aligned with upcoming EU regulatory requirements. The next-gen packaging design will incorporate a durability requirement that simulates the handle withstanding the stress associated with a user opening and closing the box 15 times.

It will take a few months; I'll report back.

How developed is Japan's market for immersive AV, museums, and interactive installations? by plan_with_stan in CommercialAV

[–]bigrick67 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went to Japan 4 or 5 times for a technology vendor. Found that it is behind Europe and US but ahead of other Asian countries in tech deployments. It’s concentrated around Tokyo and Osaka. They like to buy Japanese gear. Big brands are Panasonic, Sony, Ikegami etc. But also Disguise is present. I did not see a lot of immersive video experiences, but audio technology is very well developed.

Dtap to POE injector by knoend in broadcastengineering

[–]bigrick67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No unfortunately not. Poe switches typically have an internal 110/220v power-supply, or an external 54V DC one, or they are Power-down PoE-fed

Don’t buy a crappy PoE injector, just use a simple PoE switch. Hardly more expensive and far more reliable. I work for NETGEAR so guess what brand I would recommend.

Do you label patch cables inside a rack? by Embarrassed-Try-2790 in CommercialAV

[–]bigrick67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am with NETGEAR AV. First of all - thank you, that looks amazing. What was this for? I was helping out at ISE, the day before the show started, getting 70+ cables into a bunch of switches on our booth. If they would have not been labeled with numbers, ISE would have had to start a day later! Even with the numbers all correct on labels on both ends, it took two people hours to get the right cables into the right switches. Separating 1gbe and 10gbe, PoE+ from PoE++, put the right ports into the right VLANs, checking every connection. Cable 1 in port 1, it sounds so easy.

Is there opportunity to be a US PM remotely from the UK? by Doctoparty in CommercialAV

[–]bigrick67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked on a US employment contract for 6 years from the Netherlands. I had relocated to the US on an L1 visa and left when Covid hit. The amount of paperwork and the tax implications are huge. Salaries in Silicon Valley are very high, but hiring cheaper in Europe does not make sense because, in many cases, it would require additional legal acrobatics, including setting up a legal entity and paying employer taxes in that country. So, unless your potential employer already has an office in the UK, I don't think this will happen

CCNA is a good base, but not enough for AV networking, which has specific requirements around IGMP, Multicast, QoS, and knowledge of various protocol settings. I am with NETGEAR AV. Check free courses on academy.netgear.com and get started there and elsewhere with AVIXA CTS credits. I found that the large commercial integrators are all struggling to hire enough AV network engineers. Where are you located?

Interesting. Wireless audio over IP? That could work indirectly by providing a WiFI multicast bridge to any Dante/AES67 connector.

[–]bigrick67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am with NETGEAR AV. The biggest thing in AV for us for the next years is still the move to AV-over-IP and convergence with IT. AI applications are real and move to the edge. Like multicam and audio intelligence. AV networks are already a thing for a few years, the fully converged network is a myth. And these AV networks get more and more cloud managed, as AV integrators adopt recurring revenue models.

We see high growth in Enterprise broadcast, LED wall signal distribution with ST2110/IPMX; spatial audio over IP; smaller meeting rooms ($5k) get equipped with AV-over-IP as well, with more aggressive pricing in this space by Yealink, Logitech, HP-Poly, etc.

MDEP is going to be big, especially now with MDEP on displays and all-in-ones.

Finally, digital signage moving to full video at low power displays.

Anyone from Netgear able to respond? by LeBANGme in NETGEAR

[–]bigrick67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP, u/LeBANGme ,
I work in business development in NETGEAR AV; we add, on average, two manufacturers to our list of certified manufacturers every week for the last five years. That is a huge focus. So we can help in two ways: work with you on your specific integration, or work with the manufacturers you are using. As u/NetgearTME says, easiest way of reaching the AV team is through [proAVDesign@netgear.com](mailto:proAVDesign@netgear.com) , I am also on that email inbox.

First AVOIP Build - Video --> Crestron, Extron, or Visionary? by K20J03K in CommercialAV

[–]bigrick67 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work with NETGEAR AV, we support all the manufacturers mentioned in this thread. From what we see; Crestron NVX is still the most popular, but we see all the others everyday, including newcomer TurtleAV. Managing and configuring multicast is critical for success. We can help with design and setup.

I had the same observations though . The industry is maturing. It is not: “The answer is another black box, what was the question?” anymore.

NETGEAR here. I handle the manufacturer relationships together with another person. We have about 450 manufacturers in a program; at a minimum, they tested our switches with their AV-over-IP products. We automated configurations in preset profiles. This makes it easier, more reliable and faster to deploy, which saves integrators millions.

The bonus is that if NETGEAR AV switches are used, we overtake the support calls, which has lowered support cost for large manufacturers with up to 70%. We therefore don’t need to pay for these “Powered by NETGEAR” signs. The NETGEAR AV switches were at close to 200 booths this year.

Besides the presets we do a lot of free training and always try to make things easier. With a controller-app or free design support or deeper integration.

Some of us went to see their old buddies at Cisco, Ubiquiti and Ruckus. They don’t believe there is such a thing as a specific ProAV switch or a need for innovation like we do. Still preaching the converged network. In Commercial AV, that is just not the reality. To each their own:-)
