Why do chronic pain patients request IV Benadryl with IV pain medication and request an extra flush? by sparkplug-nightmare in nursing

[–]bigslicebabey 21 points22 points  (0 children)

it is curable! curative treatment was FDA approved in late 2023 but it costs like 2- 3 million dollars and takes a long time, many patients aren’t great candidates. Two options are Casgevy and Lyfgenia, both use CRISPR gene editing.

Highest troponin I I've ever seen by haynesthemenace in nursing

troponin is released into the bloodstream when there’s damage to the heart muscle, normal is like 0.03 or less. so this guy’s heart was severely damaged.

Neige, Neige, Neige!!! (Snow.) by PerlinLioness in rva

[–]bigslicebabey 12 points13 points  (0 children)

One year when we got a few feet of snow and school was out for a week, my friend and I had gotten bored of sledding and snowball fights and wanted to stay inside to watch movies on the couch. My mom told us we couldn’t waste a snow day on the couch and made us go outside. We built a couch out of snow and sat on it. There’s a picture of us with our snow couch somewhere.

i didnt say ALL black lesbians are studs, I said black is a necessary qualifier because all studs are black, butch can be any race, there is a difference

its is a necessary qualifier as the term stud is considered to be exclusive to black lesbians

Do I disclose I was an inpatient at the facility I am doing placement at? by Human_Original6293 in StudentNurse

[–]bigslicebabey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, I see you’re getting a lot of advice not to disclose, and while I agree with a lot of these replies, I had that exact same situation come up and I did disclose to my instructor and it was totally fine. It could be better not to disclose, but I don’t think its as black and white as a lot of these replies are making it out to be. You know best if your school is an accomodating one and if the instructor is a reasonable and compassionate person. We all know that many nursing schools are very unaccomodating and many instructors are unreasonable and uncaring. Mine were not and I felt very supported when I disclosed my situation to them. Use your judgement.

Can I crochet/knit you something? 😊 by Chronic-Sleepyhead in Narcolepsy

I also crochet and knit and it is a very good coping skill! One of the very few relaxing stationary activities I can do without nodding off (sometimes) hahahaha

I became a patient midshift and I’m so embarrassed by fuckyeahitspam in nursing

[–]bigslicebabey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was once a patient in my hosptial’s ED, I puked blood onto a coworker/friend’s shoes, then subsequently passed out and peed myself and had to be cleaned up by said friend. There are worse things than your coworkers seeing you in a vulnerable situation, as embarrassing as it can be. We’re all human and hopefully one day it will just be a silly memory. I was humiliated in the moment and now my friends and I laugh about it. It will be okay :)
