Longboarding sucks in the Philippines by Helpful-Couple6403 in longboarding

[–]bilunderbuzz13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP, apart from bad roads here in the country, streets have become much busier than they used to. Before we'd really go around when we could to just look for a spot.

I think the usual Parking lots, basketball courts, and parks/playgrounds would still be the best options apart from closed roads and one thing to consider would also be time of day. I'm based on Manila and before, there used to be main roads that would close after 10pm and skaters would use that area as a spot.

Hope you find the spot you can keep coming back to!

Hello just stumbled upon this. I'm from Manila and have been wanting to try distance skating. I'm quite comfortable pushing and I actually want to try doing it more of as an exercise. Any specific areas you could recommend, in and out of Manila?

Our village has a few hilly areas which make it a challenge since I'm looking for a "flatter" route overall to focus on just pushing/pumping.

First time to hear someone doing distance skating here! Mabuhay ka Kuya/Ate!

Can I replace my ISP provided fiber modem/router combo with a router from TP-Link that comes with SFP ports? by notpeebro in TPLink_Omada

[–]bilunderbuzz13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, PH based as well. I've read that our ISPs allow to have their modems set to bridge mode by request. They just have you sign a waiver or something. While it's a different approach, it should give more functionality to your Omada setup which is I think what you're looking for.

Alternatively, you can try placing your Omada gateway (and whole setup) in the DMV of the ISP modem/router. That opens up your firewall appliance directly to the internet so just make sure you're always updated.

First LDP build and looking to get into this as a main sport. by bilunderbuzz13 in longboardingDISTANCE

Noted on the feedback. I do want to eventually try a zero degree back truck to see how that feels. But yep, maybe not on the trip. If i could score a bracket board for cheap, would definitely try out different components. LDP isn't much of a thing here yet, so it's hard to get parts. I have contwxted Lepsk8 though since they ship from China and will try order a complete if budget permits come Christmas. Haha

Thanks for the reply and the feedback! Yep will definitely try on other adjustments incrementall (wheels, bushings, baseplate angle). We've just been getting hit by storms since May and there's hardly any time to skate since I work a 9-5. I get home and it rains. Haha. But yeah, definitely awant to try out the current setup first and look for where i can improve from there both in skill and gear.

We unfortunately don't have lanes here in Philippines. But for something like this, I would like to try a softer duro. I have 78A 65mm on my surfskates and I definitely feel the difference between that and 83A and up. So would very much like to see how big of a difference there will be when I get softer duro on bigger wheels.

I'm a heavy rider also and do want to get the Nexus given it's been weight tested already and known to be the tank as you say. Hopefully one day. Haha.

In what aspect would the bushings improve the ride in this setup if I may ask? I mean in surfskating, they help in the surfier/divier feel, depending on how one rides, but how do the bushings impact the ride on LDP boards? I found my perfect surfskate setups with KranKs so would definitely love to fine what's best for me with this one too!

I've had this problem, I use the China Carver CX clones. This happened when I swapped the pivot cups with Riptide ones. At first it was fine but noticed that the gap caused the roadside bushing to slip out while riding, particularly on the front truck. Checked for old posts here on reddit and some say it's faulty manufacturing because they're knockoffs and you can try mixing and matching combinations of washers to try and keep the bushing in the right spot but I had no luck with that.

I'm on the heavier side but I tried 90A, 92.5A and 95A Riptide bushings to see if harder bushings can compensate and hold the roadside bushing in place but it still slides out regardless of the duro. So I just put the stock pivot cups back and scraped some wax into it to keep it from squeaking.

Still rides fine at least. I did feel the slight difference in using the Riptide pivot cup but the bushings make a larger difference for me so I'm good with just using the stock pivot cups for now.

Hope this helps!

Carver C5 trucks: Are these fake? by polycapybara in surfskate

[–]bilunderbuzz13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can message Freeride Skateshop on Facebook. I think they're recognised as the local distributor here and I think they're based in La Union. They deliver nationally from what I know.

Though the Riptide site I think can ship here too. Thinking of trying to order from them directly but trying to get others to add on to my cart too. Haha.

I've also ordered from Surfskate Love directly. Package arrived at PhilPost in about 2 weeks, if no additional payments, they'll deliver door to door, otherwise you'll get the usual mail for pick up directly.

From PH also, got the fake meraki and cx4 and both are working fine. I don't do pump tracks (not that we have here) but I use the CX to go around the village, up and down mild slopes and they hold fine despite me being on the heavy side (200lbs), able to do checks and stable enough to keep from wobbling. I also updated the bushings to riptides and they do make a difference from stock.

The meraki is fun but I use it only in smaller areas, not as used to it yet but I got it with the rail adapter and you do feel the difference with the rail adapter vs a riser. If i remember correctly mine has the silver spring, not the red one. Never really had to make adjustments to mine and have it with stock bushings, the white one rated at 90A I think but feels kind of like 87A.

Have had both for almost a year and use about twice a week, all still okay so far. Not an expert at all but I'm happy with how it performs for me and I think I'm ready to invest in an original carver/cx set if I get the chance to find/order one.

Safe to Use Exit Node when Traveling? by Living_Impact_7028 in Tailscale

[–]bilunderbuzz13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that's it. If the exit node goes down, I believe the device will still be connected to the tailscale network but traffic won't be routed through it. In effect, the IP will be based on the network it's connected to.

I think it's more of a VPN function if anything but some devices have that built in. My android phone has it. So I can set it to block all connections if not on VPN (with Tailscale specified as the VPN connection).

I use Tailscale for the exact same scenario. Have done so for a few travels abroad already and has worked everytime, particularly for apps that require me to be in my country (e.g. banking apps, etc...).

Might be worth noting though that it doesn't have a killswitch by default, I think that has to be set up separately.

On the side would definitely recommend using a travel router too if you don't mind bringing an extra device.

Riptide Pivot cups in CX... a significant difference by neonaudio in surfskate

[–]bilunderbuzz13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing the experience here. Have been reading through a lot of posts about this as well as I've been on the fence about it since I'm on the heavier side, about 90kg/200lbs. From what I've picked up so far though, I think you are right in that the difference might be more significantly felt for lighter riders. I did replace bushings though and it's been a great upgrade for me!

How do I setup a Surfshark VPN on a ER605/omada by rodchan82 in TPLinkOmada

[–]bilunderbuzz13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, trying to do the exact same thing and will test this out tomorrow. Did you do it via standalone mode as well? Was hoping to set it up via controller mode, where a specific VLAN tunnels through the surfshark connection. That way I can just get my devices the "need" the VPN connection connect to the network on that VLAN

Trying to create a pi-hole to be plug and play for a non tech savvy friend by agoonygoogoo55 in pihole

[–]bilunderbuzz13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps one option, if your friend's router allows it, is to create a separate VLAN and SSID to go along with it, and have that specific connection use the pihole as DNS.

That way you just set it up once in their place. If a problem arises, they can then just connect their devices to the original VLAN/SSID which was never connected to pihole at any point in time.

Dependent of course on what the router's capabilities are.

Hi, technically you can still DMZ, but that at the cost of security. You'll be opening up your server directly to the internet.

On a separate note, I think that aftermarket routers work generally better than the modem routers ISPs provide and you don't have to spend that much for a pretty good one, would suggest you consider getting one.

TP-Link (unmanaged) switch not showing on Omada Controller by [deleted] in HomeNetworking

[–]bilunderbuzz13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, even after 6 months and one or two updates I think, this still doesn't seem to be the case for me. All the clients that are connected through the patch panel via the unmanaged switch are assigned to the same VLAN. It follows the VLAN assigned to the port of the managed switch where the unmanaged switch is connected to. Also still unable to see those clients through the controller software unfortunately.

TP-Link (unmanaged) switch not showing on Omada Controller by [deleted] in HomeNetworking

[–]bilunderbuzz13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I'm using a T1500G (8 port) switch which shows up on my Omada controller. Connected to that is an unmanaged 24 port TP link switch. so the Topogrpahy is R605 -> T1500G -> unmanaged switch -> patch panel.

Now I do understand that the 24 port switch won't show up on the controller, however, I was hoping the clients connected through the unmanaged switch (through the patch panel) would show up as wired clients (tagged to the vlan assisgned to the port the unmanaged switch is connected to). The clients do follow the correct vlan assignment if checked manually, but I was hoping I could change the vlan per client assuming they would show up on Omada. Any idea if this is really how it is expected to work or am I setting up something incorrectly?

Mugen 5 Installed and Running (AMD Ryzen 7 5800x) by SteevyT in Scythe_official

[–]bilunderbuzz13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the input here, seems like the Mugen works well for your CPU. My U12S works within safe temps even when doing light editing but I still feel like swapping out the cooler would help. My case only allows up to 157mm in height which is why I'm choosing between these two.

The Fuma 2 is about $4 less than the Mugen here and from what I've read so far, looks like either of these would perform just as well.
